All the girls are standing in a line being appraised (EW). A client comes in and Dali tells him that he will be satisfied. He asks to see a new "thing". Daali asks a servant to get the new girls and the new one Laali too. Sanichari is worried. Laali is sitting in the room when someone throws ghungru at her. She looks at them oddly. the servants tell her to put them on. They force her to put them on and she begs them to stop. She tells them she is not here to stay and will leave. But they put them on her and also force er to wear a new dress. They tell ehr to take off her mangalsutr and she disagrees. They tell her whatever just hide it or the men will tear it off in impatience. (UGH) Downstaitsthe "new" girls are doing a catwalk for the client. Sanuchari whispers to Laali to do as she is asked to do or the women will bother her. The client takes a liking to Laali, of course. Daali asks the girls to dance and show off their skills. Laali is frozen while the other girls dance. She grudgingly obeys. A depressing dirge plays in the background. (The dancing is dreadful, y'all). The client wants lali to dance at some family function. Daali negotiates the price with him. Laali is thrown in the same room by the mean servant-women and locked in. Sanichari goes to see Lali. She drugs the woman who is locking Lali's door, takes the keys and goes in the room. Lali is happy to see her. Sanichari asks how she was brought here and Lali explains her situation to her. She says now I have gotten used to living like an object t be bought and sold. Sanichari is emotional and is horrified at learning that Lali was sold by her parents. She tells Lali to go run away from here and start her life anew. She tells Lali to go to the city. Lali asks how? Sanichari says I will help you run. She goes to the cupboard and takes clothes out. She tells Lali to change.
Balli comes to the brothel. He is obviously looking for Lali. Daali is furious to see him running inside and disturbing everyone. Sanichari and Lali go out of the room and run towards the exit. Balli and Dali argue about influence over the kotha and who gets to keep Lali. Dali asks Balli to pay her for Lali otherwise she will not give her over. They all run to Lali's room to see that the servant girl is still drugged and the room is empty. Sanichari and Lali are running away from the commotion. They hide in a storeroom (?) and wait for the storm to pass. Unfortunately Balli sees her!!!

Sanichari blocks Balli from egtting Lali and threatens him. But he yells after Lali saying that Thakur knows you are pregnant with his heir and he will kill Chote Thakur if you are not found. So you must go back to the haveli.
