I found two coins which depict the coronation of Shri Rama, with Lakshman and Sita flanking Rama and Hanuman prostrating before them .
This coin was issued by east India company in 1818
(PS: 16 aNa made 1 Re so 1/2 aNa is 3 paisa,approx)

Ananya

Thanks for sharing this. So the East India Company did a better job commemorating Rama than contemporary rulers of the time? 😆

You all are welcome!
Yes, in this matter the East India were better off, coz we cannot expect such a thing today.
Here are some coins of Shri Rama pattabhishekam, Shivji and Saraswati; issued in 1839 series
I found some info on this blog post : http://kalyan97.wordpress.com/
Its dedicated to Shri Ramasetu and other related things to Rama.
Also on more finding about these coins there are many fakes that are being sold on internet so its difficult to assess which coin is really original😕

But shouldn't these coins have had the EIC logo on them? Or is it just that branding then simply wasn't what it is today?

At any rate, you just made me a new fan of the East India Company. Screw our post independence secular rulers

Thanks for sharing the pictures Ananya.

If I may ask, where did you come across these?

And by the way, is the writing on the first coin Urdu (apart from English)?

Thanks again for the pictures. It is really nice to see that someone had tried to protect our heritage.

And incidentally, did the British issuing these coins arise from the legends of Eri Kaatha Raamar?
