The Fiftieth
Nonee gazed around at her surroundings. Why hadn't the idiot texted her even once? She glanced at her watch for what seemed like the tenth time. The loft seemed too empty to her. Where were the rest of her partners in crime?
"Shabzie! Ravs! Radz! Bhav! Rinkz! Kimz! Shifu! Maddy! Avi! Kahan ho tum sab?" She sighed when she finally finished.
"We're right here." Shabo rolled her eyes as she strolled into the room clicking away on her Blackberry phone.
Rinki walked in, her thumb circling on her Ipod while being connected to Ravjot with the headphones but they both just silently raised a hand while bobbing to a song that was blasting.
Shifali smiled as she walked in with Aradhna also known as Radz who was followed closely by Bhav, Kimz and Avi; all of whom looked deathly bored.
"Where's Maddy?" Nonee asked as they all looked around.
"Maddy!" All the girls called out when finally they saw her walk up the stairs her ear still connected to her phone.
"What?" Maddy asked. "Give me a second. I'm talking to Meera on the phone."
Shifali rolled her eyes and said. "Tell her whenever she decides to come for the wedding—I'm not talking to her,"
Maddy smirked in response. "I'll tell her." She quickly whispered all that into the phone and then laughed at Meera's response.
"What'd she say?" Ravs asks as she takes out the headphone from her ear.
"Ssh! Girls!" Nonee failed as she tried to get the girl's attention. Sometimes she wished she wasn't so soft spoken and had that loud voice like Shabo that demanded attention. Her cell phone beeped then and she slipped her phone out of her pocket and clicked to check her message. 'Tell Shifali not to worry, well take good care of her dear Punjj!' Nonee glared silently at her phone as she stuffed it back in her pocket not to go unnoticed by Bhav who walked up to Nonee and raised her eyebrow.
"What's up?" She asked.
"Nothing," Nonee shrugged as the rest of the girls continued talking.
"Nonee," Bhav urged her.
"Fine—initially tonight was going to be a friends night just for us to hang out with the guys as well, but then the guys changed their mind and so we're stuck on our own,"
Bhav slipped her arm around Nonee's and grinned. "You're crazy for worrying,"
"I'm not worrying." Nonee argued. "I just wanted us all to spend time together."
"To tumhe lagta hain ke shaadi ke baad yeh nahi hoga?" Shifali laughed. "Don't worry so much Nonee."
"That's not it Shifali," Radz interrupted. "The boys went for their 'bachelor' party while leaving all of us girls here,"
"Ooohh!" Rinki grinned and looked at Kimz who smiled back knowing exactly what the other was thinking.
"We both," Kimz started.
"Think that we should," Rinki added.
"SPY ON THE BOYS!" They both complete together.
The other girls just started the two in the face. "You're insane," Bhav told them.
"Come on Bhav," Rinki went up to her. "Don't tell me you don't wanna know what Adi could be up to?"
Bhav turned a shade of red. She didn't like admitting her new found feelings for Nonee's brother but of course them all being a close knit group—they found out.
"Ugh!" Nonee covered her ears. "Don't forget he's still my brother,"
"Aww Nonee," Kimz smiled and walked up to her. "What could Sushant be up to?"
"Before you decide to come to each of us and try to blackmail us," Radz smiled. "Can we just take a vote? Who wants to go spy? Hands up,"
Shabo's hand went soaring in the air just like Kimz and Rinkz suspected it would. Bhav's hand raised slowly followed by Avi who was surprisingly quiet today, Radz sighed as her hand went up followed by Maddy.
"Shifu—don't you want to know what Punjj is doing?" Kimz laughed.
Shifali slapped Kimz shoulder lightly before her cheeks tinted pink. "I trust him,"
"Right—the biggest flirt after Preet of course, and you trust him?" Shabo smirked.
"You realize you're talking about your boyfriend of course?" Avi asked.
"Shush!" Shabo laughed. "We all know he is!"
"True," The girls all laughed as they agreed.
"So we're going?" Maddy asked.
"If we're all ready?" Radz looked around at all the faces of the girls. "Nonee you haven't answered yet?"
Nonee reluctantly shrugged. "I don't want Sushant to think I don't trust him,"
Shabo grinned. "If 'jiju' says anything just tell him we dragged you out,"
"Shut up!" Nonee blushed, her cheeks turning an unusual shade of red. "We're not married yet,"
"Still this ring means something right?" Maddy grinned, holding up Nonee's left hand.
The 10 girls quickly split up evenly into 2 cars and headed down to the club Avi vaguely remembered Mayank mentioning.
"You're sure right," Shabo asked as they stealthily walked towards the club all the girls quickly putting on sunglasses.
"Umm—girls?" Bhav pointed up and all the girls looked up surprised at what Bhav was pointing at so intently while still giggling. "The sun's gone. Wearing sunglasses—makes you all look like idiots," She smiled sweetly before turning around on her heel and walking head first into the club.
"I thought she was one of the one's who didn't wanna go," Rinki muttered to Avi who just happened to be standing next to her.
"Girls!" They all heard Bhav call and rushed into the cub after her.
"Why is it so dark in here?" They heard Maddy's timid voice ask. They all knew she was frightened of the dark.
"Where's the light?" Kimz asked, feeling around with her hand.
"Ow! You pulled my hair," Radz snapped back in an angry tone.
"I can't see anything in here!" Avi pouted.
"Why can't we even see any shadows?" Nonee asked.
"Stop moving!" Bhav told them all.
"That was my toe!" Rinki screamed.
"Sorry?" Shifali said in a small tone.
"Shouldn't there be more music in the club?" Ravjot asked after a few more moments of just standing there in the darkness.
"Found it!" Shabo exclaimed as she flipped a switch and all of a sudden lights burst on everywhere.
"SURPRISE!" All the girls looked up and saw a huge sign that said, Congratulations Shifali and Arjun!
"What's going on?" Shifali muttered as all of a sudden a blindfold was placed over her eyes and she was taken away, a hand covering her mouth muffling all her screams.
"Was that the boys' voices?" Rinki asked with a frown on her face.
"Certainly sounded like it," Radz agreed as she looked around the entire club and saw that it was decorated purely in white.
"Hey! Where'd Shifu go?" Maddy asked as they 9 of them went off in search for the belle of the ball, or so to speak.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Get off of me!" Shifali forcefully pushed the shoulder of her attacker and then ripped the blindfold off herself and found herself in an equally dark room. "Who are you and why'd you bring me here?"
"Aapne honewali pati ko nahi pechanti?" She trembled as she felt Arjun's cold hand brush away her hair from her neck before placing a soft kiss on her shoulder bone.
"Arjun, I thought—" He slowly turned her around and smiled before leaning his forehead against hers.
"You thought we were actually gonna have a bachelor party right?"
Shifali nodded before biting her lip.
"Arre pagal. I'm happy to be getting married to you," He smiled as he took her hand in his and let a kiss drop on her knuckles. "I don't need a party to commemorate my last night of freedom as everyone calls it,"
Shifali smiled as Arjun pulled her closer towards him, whispering sweet words into her ears.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Have you found her yet?" Rinki groaned as she popped open another door before being randomly pulled inside.
"I found you," Manthan smiled down at her.
"Manthan!" She slapped at his shoulder trying hard not to smile, mentally cursing herself forgetting how chiseled his body was.
"Kya?" He smiled at her. "You were the one with this brilliant idea weren't you?"
"What idea?" she leaned against the wall, her heart racing with the way he leaned against it, enclosing her from both sides.
"This spy on the boy's idea," He leaned down closer to her ear and whispered.
Rinki shrugged. "Me and—"
"Lemme guess...Kimz?" He grinned.
"I love how well you know me," She grinned as his lips slowly touched her cheek, giving her a slow moment of ecstasy with just the touch of his lips.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Rinkz! Where'd you go!" Kimz called out after her, trying to get into the same room but discovering that it was locked. She banged on it a few times before hearing a faint; 'go away' from Rinki. What in the world? Kimz started pounding harder when a hand pressed down on hers.
"Who—" She turned her head slightly and then caught her breath as the boy who always took her breath away was standing a mere few inches away from her.
"Hey," he greeted her as he took her hand in his.
"H—hi." She mumbled as she looked down.
"I missed you," Akki smiled down at her.
"You dropped me off at Nonee's—" She looked down at her watch. "Exactly 3 hours ago."
"That's 180 minutes without seeing your gorgeous face,"
Kimz shook her head. "You flirt too much,"
Akki laughed and backed away leaning against the opposite wall. "Are you telling me you don't enjoy it?"
"She does! She's lying!"
They both turn and sees a sheepish grin on Shabo's face as she was peeping around the open door.
"Preet's waiting for you. Run!" Akki told her, before he went to shut the door. "So you enjoy it?"
Kimz rolled her eyes before shrugging. "At times."
"Times like this?" He grinned as he stepped closer.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Preet!" Shabo called out. "I know you're here somewhere!" She climbed up the spiral stairs. "Akki's already told me!"
"Akki ke bache," she heard his voice mutter as she turned the corner and saw him sitting on the floor with his knees pulled up against his chest.
"Uhem," she cleared her throat and mentally laughed as he shot up like a person on fire.
"Shabo—how-you?" He mumbled quickly.
"I very well." She greeted him back, smiling.
"Ah whatever," He sighed and took two giant strides and sweeped her into his arms.
"Oye! Preet! Kya kar rahe ho?"
"Main?" he let her down. "Kuch bhi to nahi?" He shrugged as he whistled around her.
"Right," She rolled her eyes. "This was all your plan wasn't it? Tumhi aisa kar sakhte ho,"
"Main? I'm shocked that you think that!" He touched his heart dramatically and then kneeled down in front of her. "My heart is with you. I would never dare of upsetting you,"
Shabo tried hard to keep a straight before collapsing into a fit of giggles right on the floor with him.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Where have they all disappeared to?" Nonee mumbled to herself as she walked around the dance floor of the club when suddenly the lights started dimming. "What in the—" She stopped talking as she saw her 'idiot' walk towards her, grinning at her with a smile that he knew always made her weak in the knees.
"Bachelor party huh?" she crossed her arms.
He shrugged. "Did you not trust me?"
Nonee opened her mouth to retort back when she the twinkle in his eyes, realizing that he was actually just teasing. "The girls dragged me along,"
"Right," Sushant smiled. "I believe you."
"Sachi!" She frowned. "Tum meri baat pe vishwas nahi karoge?"
All attempts to coax him into listening to her went the minute he gently pushed her up against the wall. "Tumhari baat pe vishwas?" Nonee nodded, avoiding his eyes. "Main kyun karu?"
She looked up at him in surprise. "Kya?"
"Maybe I liked hearing that my mangetaar (fianc) was jealous..." His face came closer then and used his long finger to slowly trail a line from Nonee's eyes down to the nook of her neck.
"Sushant. Leave me...koi dekh lega,"
"Dekne do," He shrugged. "We have the legal certificate,"
She pushed him away with all her strength. "And what's that?"
"This," He slowly lifts up her hand and lets their fingers intertwine with each other leaving her face with a faint tint of pink.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The rest of the girls, Ravjot, Aradhna, Avi, Maddy and Bhav all gathered in the center of the club, wondering where the other five girls had gone.
"Nonee was like just here!" Maddy exclaimed. "I saw her while I was upstairs."
"Hmm—there's something weird going on here," Ravjot said while scratching her chin. "I always wanted to be an undercover agent,"
"Yes—we know all about that," Bhav rolled her eyes while Ravs saw and slapped her shoulder lightly.
"Aren't the mirrors all pretty?" Avi said as she turned to look at all the walls lined with mirrors when she saw a glimpse of spiked hair. Was that who I think it was? she followed the direction the spikes went in and gasped when she saw the person who had always made her heart soar.
"Mayank!" She exclaimed.
"Hi Avi," He grinned sheepishly.
"Tum bhi iss sab mein shamil ho?" Avi shook her head. "Aur mummy papa ko to lagta hain ke Mayank bahot hi aacha bacha hain," She tried placing her hand on his hair, before he got it and held it in his.
"Aacha to main hoon hi," He leaned his forehead against hers. "Aur yeh tumhe bhi pata hain,"
Avi didn't know why but she had a sudden burst of giggles. "I'm sorry—" she caught her breath and looked at his confused face and laughed again.
"Why are you laughing?" He stepped away, hurt taking over his adorable face.
"I—woh...the line was just so cheesy Mayank," Avi shrugged. "You don't need to sweet talk me. I'm already latoo over you; and you know that!"
Mayank grinned as he enveloped her in his tight arms.

Aradhna was noticing all her friends going missing one by one and she knew it was the boys fault—they were always the ones who did weird things like this. Before she could let out a peep everything went dark around her and she felt herself getting tugged away. She pulled at the blindfold but a strong pair of hands caught her wrists and held them.
"Itni asani se nahin," a husky voice said to her. "Badi muskhil se tumhare saath thoda waqt mila hain,"
Instantly she knew it was him. Her husband Rajveer; the man who had proposed to her in the middle of a thunderstorm when they were stranded at Maddy's house. He had been her best friend from before she could remember but she never realized when she had crossed the line from friendship to love; she was just glad that she wasn't the only one who crossed it and that Raj also felt the same way about her.
She always felt safe in his arms but that wasn't something she found weird. She loved the way he was always there to take care of her every need just like she was always there whenever he needed her smile to cheer up.
Their friends often thought of them as the ideal couple by just the way they were so compatible; words were often not needed when they were together; times just like now.
Radz shuddered as she felt his thumb rub circles on her left cheek while his fore fingers lingered near her neck causing her pulse to accelerate rapidly.
Slowly she felt the silky blindfold leaving her eyes and she gasped as she saw her husband dressed impeccably in black slacks with a deep purple colored shirt and a grin that matched his personality perfectly.
"I didn't think you'd come with them to spy on us,"
"Spy? Tumhe kisne kaha ke we were spying?" Radz asked raising her eyebrow.
"To tum log bhi issi club mein aane wala the?" Raj grinned as he moved even closer to Radz, nearly causing her to hang onto him to be upright.
"Ummm yeah. Anyways, you tell me—why's the club empty?"
"Did you think we were actually planning a bachelor party?" Rajveer smiled. "Arjun wanted to kill us for even using that as a way to get you girls to come."
"Arjun's so shweet." Radz smiled.
"And I'm not?" Raj pouted leaving Radz shaking her head while hugging him.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ravjot was sad to say the least. All her friends were off with the people they love and only Bhav, Maddy and she were left sitting at a circular table. Alone.
"Do you think the other two didn't come?" She asked hesitantly.
"They wouldn't do that...would they?" Bhav replied.
Maddy just shrugged in response while fighting to keep the smile off her face.
Right then Ravs saw a flash of red and realized it was Yug's red sweater. "I'm going to be right back."
"She was so sad before—ab kya hua?" Maddy laughed as Bhav continued to sulk. She didn't know why or how but she was in love with Nonee's brother Adi. There was just something about him—she had always refused when any of her friends had teased her about him, but now—she just couldn't anymore even if she wanted to. The tint of red on her cheeks gave away all her feelings; she could only hope that Adi didn't find out about that.
"Hey, kahan khogayi?" Maddy snapped her fingers in front of Bhav's face.
"Kahin nahi," Bhav smiled at Maddy as she placed her chin in the cup of her right hand on the table.
Maddy quickly took out her cell phone and began texting furiously when suddenly the light went out again and Bhav heard the scrap of the chair and then the lights fluttered on again. "What the?" When she looked to her left Maddy was gone and in her place there was someone sitting there with a black cloak on top.
"Umm hello?" She tapped the person's shoulder.
The person then whipped off the cloak scaring her from the sudden movement, making her push herself away from the table and she was almost about to fall of the chair when he caught her hand in his.
"Adi!?!" She exclaimed. "Why were you scaring me?"
"Because it's fun?" He smiled, causing her heart to melt. She could never be angry with him—one of her the qualities all her friends found amusing.
"Let me up,"
He did as she asked and pulled her up causing her to smack right into his chest. "I'm... sorry," she backed away before his hands caught hers and held them close to his heart.
"Don't be,"
"What?"
"Don't be sorry Bhav," He smiled. "I want to tell you something,"
Bhav was petrified, in every book and movie she had read or seen any part like this and the guy would always tell his girl best friend that he was in love with someone else. What am I thinking? she mentally scolded herself and went back to paying attention to Adi. "Yeah?"
"Sit," he told her as he sat her down on the chair and knelt down in front of her. "Bhav, for the last couple of weeks I've wanted to tell you something."
"What?" She asked.
"Don't interrupt," he smiled as he chided her.
"Fine," she pouted as he continued to talk.
"Bhav—for the last couple of weeks I don't know how or when but I think—I think I..."
She was waiting with bated breath for him to continue but he just looked like he was trying so hard to let the words out but nothing was flowing finally she just burst out. "Adi, can't you say it?!"
"Huh?" Adi exclaimed. "How do you know what I want to say?"
"I don't know really—but I need to say something," She said softly. "I don't know how or when," They both smiled realizing she was using his words from before. "But I think I've fallen in love with you," she slowly touched his cheek with her hand and waited for his response.
"Really?" He placed his hand on top of hers on his cheek.
She nodded slowly. "I just—was so confused. Nonee and Radz have always tried to push us together,"
"And you never wanted that." Adi said softly.
"That wasn't it Adi," she smiled. "I was just—not sure if it was right or not. But now I know."
"That nothing could be righter?" He grinned as she just laughed and hugged him.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Yug!" Ravjot was tired now. She had been calling this guy for the last 5 minutes but he was nowhere to be seen. Maybe he really didn't come. All of a sudden two hands came from the side and she recognized them instantly as his. "Come out," she demanded.
Yug stepped out of the shadows his hair as always flopping down on his forehead and his chocolatey eyes literally melting her every heart beat.
"Naraaz ho?" He asked holding his ears.
She couldn't help but smile and blush. "No, I was just upset because I thought that you didn't come."
He smiled and cupped her face in his hands. "Would that ever happen?"
She knew he was right. He'd never do something like that to her. "I guess not."
"You guessed right," He smiled, pulling her face closer to his before giving her a small kiss on her cheeks. He laughed silently to himself as he saw her tremble beneath his touch. She always seemed so strong around her friends yet whenever they were together she'd turn into the delicate girl he always knew she was deep down in her heart.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Maddy smiled to herself as she watched from the corner when Adi came and kneeled in front of Bhav.
"Spying again?" Manav came and slipped his hands around her waist.
She turned slightly and leaned her head on his shoulder. "We came up with this whole plan with the help of Prem and Meera, course I'm making sure it works. Report deni hogi na?"
"Report? Kaise report?" Manav and Maddy turned towards the front of the club and saw as Meera and Prem walked in hand in hand.
They both rushed forward to hug them both. "You guys came!"
"Course we did," Meera laughed. "Couldn't have Shifali hating me for that long could I?"
Prem put his arm around her shoulder and smiled. "Thanks Maddy for making the plan so successful,"
"My pleasure. Although I think Manav here had the major stuff to do." Maddy smiled at him.
"How's that?" Meera asked.
"He convinced the guys to do this whole thing, for the 'bachelor party,'" Maddy smiled. "Isn't he a genius?"
"I'm right here you know," Manav grinned at her.
"I'm glad we did this," Prem smiled. "All the guys with their girls,"
"Matchmaking heaven!" Meera grinned up at him as they watched all of their friends with their significant others in pure bliss.
Love you loads,
Meera😳
