Part 17

Papa?...papa?.... jolting out of his thoughts he looked up at his daughter, who for some reason was looking confused as ever...Papa...you was going to tell me something?...seeing the anticipation on Ridhhima's face, Shashank realised that he was just thinking...he thought over his decision one more time and came to a conclusion that it's not the right time; but that didn't mean that the question of marriage won't come up...

Looking up at Ridhhima, he smiled at her gently whilst shaking his head...Nothing Ridhhima...I'll tell you when we get home...he knew that his wish to see her married was going to be a hard task and is very selfish of him, but seeing his life now moving further away from him, he was now desperate to see her happy with someone for once in her life...who could keep her happy and complete for the rest of her life; he had done a mistake already by marrying her off with Abhimanyu, but not this time...not this time

Ridhhima was a little surprised at his change of emotions; he looked very serious and she assumed that whatever he was about to ask her is very important to him...this just made her more anxious now, but she managed to nod at him in agreement...smiling at Ridhhima he wiped her tears while she did his; his baby girl had finally grown up into a beautiful young woman...he felt proud as well as shocked to see how well she had taken the news of his illness...the fear of seeing her break seemed to have vanished into thin air as he could now see a strong and confident girl in front of him...

Knowing how sensitive and emotional Ridhhima can get, Shashank caressed her shoulder to calm her down until her tears subsided, which is when he saw the state of her...Ridhhima what happened to you!!??...for once since she'd arrived at the hospital, Ridhhima looked at herself and then back at her dad who looked horrified at her...did you go somewhere?...because it seems like the rag your wearing was a gown earlier on, if I am not wrong...hearing him chuckle at her position, she opened her mouth in disbelief to say something in defence but failed to do so and ended up giving him a light smack on his arm....papa!!...actually I was an award ceremony this evening...smiling at her dad she began to clear off the dry mud on her hands...award ceremony?....seeing her dad frown in confusion she began to explain...papa I went to the business of the year awards with Armaan, my boss...Shasank smiled at her, he felt bad for spoiling her evening, but he knew she'd just get angry at him if he apologised...he's actually here with me...we were making our way back home when we found out about you...Ridhhima stiffened up a little due to getting flashbacks of getting the news about her dads illness...unnoticed by Ridhhima's change, Shashank felt the urge to meet Armaan; he'd heard a lot about him and was very impressed with his success in the business field...he remembered how apprehensive he was when Ridhhima told him she'd be working for him...as well as Ridhhima, he was also aware of Armaan Mallik's so called "image" when it comes to women...but after Ridhhima's recent visit back home, she couldn't stop talking about him, which is when he realised that this man is no threat to his daughter...Ridhhima call Armaan in, I'd love to meet him...he gestured her towards the door and cared to notice the small smile that rised on Ridhhima's lips at the mention of him while she walked out of the room...

Stepping out of the room, Ridhhima smiled back at her dad one more time before she closed the door...taking in a deep breath she calmed herself down as she held on to her stomach, trying to stop the bulges it was making due to the overflown emotions she was going through...what had she thought the evening to be and what had it turned out to be...for a moment she felt like cursing her destiny...is her life always going to be like this?...is she always going to be unhappy?...is she always going to lose someone that she loves?....feeling someone hold on to her shoulder she heard herself saying..No...The feeling of those hands on her shoulder somehow made her feel protected and safe...they gave a sense of relief that no matter happens in life these hands will always be there to support her...turning around she felt herself close her eyes, when she came jolting out of her moment with a soft yet disturbing voice...Ridhhima, you okay?...she immediately opened her eyes in shock and saw none other than Armaan...what was I thinking?... frowning at her thoughts and mentally kicked herself for even thinking anything like that...looking up, Ridhhima softened up seeing Armaan...that concerned at worried look on his face simply touched her heart...for some reason, him just being there for her was like a big enough oomph for her at the moment...who was she kidding, if it wasn't for him she wouldn't have even been able to face the situation...smiling at her reassuringly Armaan gently squeezed her shoulder as he saw her smile back at him and wiped off her tears...is he okay?...seeing her nod in response, he knew she had been through a lot tonight and being her friend, he had done the right thing by being with her...letting go of her shoulder he was about to walk back to his chair when he felt a tug at his hand...looking back he followed the hand holding onto him and saw Ridhhima still standing in the same position...seeing him raise his eyebrows at her in question, she just shaked her head at him and made her way towards him...Armaan watched her intently whilst she came towards him when suddenly she put her arms around his waist and hugged him tight...

Armaan felt himself hallucinate by this gesture of Ridhhima's once again; whenever she took the initiation, it would just enlighten this unknown happy balloon inside him that would take him only one step higher in the clouds...he automatically bought her closer with his arms as he held onto the opposite sides of her shoulders... the hug was gentle yet affectionate from both sides...both felt their eyes close in bliss, as they shared another pleasant moment, making it memorable for themselves...Armaan's smile grew wider as he felt her arms tighten around him...thank you Armaan...she lifted her head up and came in face with an already smiling Armaan, making her smile back too...thank you for being my best friend, thank you for just...just being here for me...seeing the glint of happiness in his eyes caused Ridhhima to thank god for bringing Armaan in to her life in the form of great friend... for Armaan, this moment felt so precious that he just didn't want it to end....for once in his life someone appreciated his presence in their life...he was tired of being used and left alone, but today...today he had Ridhhima...at first he was in doubt, but now, he was beyond sure that Ridhhima is truly the only best thing that has happened to him in his life since his father's death...he seemed to have lost the meaning of being wanted and loved ages ago...but Ridhhima bought that happiness and love back in his life in the form of friendship...and it was about time he took the step towards his part of the friendship, by supporting and consoling her in this difficult time...Ridhhima looked at him in deep thought and wondered where he'd gone lost when out of the blue she felt him lean forward towards her face....feeling his breath against her forehead, she gently closed her eyes as she felt his lips cover the gap between her eyebrows with a tender yet sweet kiss...that was all he did and that was all Ridhhima needed to feel assured that he is and will be beside her...

Seeing The Shashank Gupta in front of him, Armaan couldn't believe his eyes and his luck...the man that he took as his inspiration was waiting to meet him and all he could do was tremble in fear...for a moment he felt like running out of the room as his nerves kicked in, but then seeing Ridhhima beaming in delight, he couldn't let her down either...papa..Meet Armaan Mallik...Armaan let out a nervous smile as he bought his hand out to shake...h-h-hello sir...hearing his uneven voice, both Shashank and Ridhhima shared an amused look...bringing out his weak hand, Shashank felt Armaan take hold of his hand, making him smile in appreciation...hi Armaan, its a great pleasure to finally meet you...heard a lot about you...gesturing at Ridhhima, the blush creeping up her cheeks in shyness didn't go unnoticed by Armaan...good or bad?...sensing the tease, Ridhhima widened her eyes at him, making his smile deepen as his dimples took place...Shashank just chuckled at their little interaction and gestured Armaan to sit next to him by holding out his hand...how are you feeling sir?...Armaan could feel his eyes moisten as he remembered sitting in the same position with his dad in front of him on his death bed...I'm fine..Better now...Shashank smiled and blinked his eyes reassuringly at Armaan as his sadness didn't go unnoticed by him...Armaan couldn't believe that life could be so cruel; first his dad and now Ridhhima's dad, why is it that always the good people have to face difficulties in life...what had Ridhhima done to get such a situation in her life...Shashank had been watching the play of emotions on Armaan's face...Armaan?...seeing him raise his head up Shashank looked into his deep blue eyes and noticed what might be the reason that he was here tonight with Ridhhima...trust...will you keep my Ridhhima happy?....

Armaan looked at Shashank, trying to figure out what the meaning of the question is....but he couldn't question any further when he noticed the sadness and hope in his eyes and realised in front of him right now was a father of a daughter, who is seeking out for her happiness...Armaan looked up to see Ridhhima and saw her trying to muffle up her cries as she held onto her mouth....he moved onto Shashank's bed and held both of his hands and looked into his eyes...sir, I promise you, Ridhhima WILL be happy...for the rest of her life...I assure you this...all this time Ridhhima had been listening to the duo and she couldn't take her eyes off Armaan...she just couldn't believe her luck to have Armaan in her life...how lucky she is to have him....she had once heard the saying that if you lose some you gain some....in her life that gain is Armaan...

Shashank felt the tears of happiness overwhelm his eyelids as they made their way down his cheeks...thank you...that was he could say; Armaan was more of an angel that had been sent into their lives to be a spark of hope in this hard time....Armaan couldn't help either but tear up as he hugged him tight...seeing the two most important people in her life right now supporting each other, Ridhhima couldn't help but join in as she overlapped her arms around her dad and Armaan...i need a hug too...hearing Ridhhima moan, they couldnt help but giggle as well as engulf her into thier hug...the moment was happy as well as sad, but they were there for each other...
