launched on january 21, 2008, ndtv imagine's mega epic "ramayan" not only marked the launch of a refreshing new channel, but was also the catalyst in the revival of mythology on indian television. since its launch, india's greatest epic retold on a mega scale has captured the imagination of the entire country. the show and its cast have received an overwhelming response from audiences, young and old. on june 26, 2009 this epic revival on imagine, based on valmiki's ramayan and tulsidas' ramcharitmanas, will reach its conclusion.

"ramayan", proved to be a timeless classic, consistently delivering high ratings across prime time hindi general entertainment channels and also with its dubbed, syndicated versions in south india across kerala, andhra pradesh and tamil nadu. the show has also received tremendous response across various internet platforms on which it is available.

the enthralling production values and fresh approach to the storytelling gave the new "ramayan" an appeal that entertained and delighted viewers across all age groups. despite a lot of other channels following suit with a slew of mythological shows post imagine, none could re - create the magic and make an impact like that of the "ramayan".

ndtv imagine's "ramayan", helped the new generation of india re - connect to their traditions and values with classic high points such as sita's swayamvar, lord ram's vanwas, the sita haran, lanka burning, ram ravan yudh and the current luv kush storyline has struck a deep chord with the audiences.

some of the country's new and best talents were associated with the show. actors like gurmeet choudhary and debina bonnerjee who enacted the characters of ram and sita respectively went on to become household names in the television industry. the key role of ravan was played by the talented actor akhilendra mishra who enthralled viewers with his splendid performance. the characters of lakshman, bharat and shatrughan were played by ankit arora, vije bhatia and lalit negi respectively have also been noticed.

commenting on the show, ms. shailja kejriwal, executive vice president content ndtv imagine said, "undeniably, 'ramayan' on ndtv imagine has created a revolution!!! it brought families together night after night; it enhanced our latent desire to educate our children about our history and culture and it revived the genre of mythology on television. over the past year and a half, the show has grown by leaps and bounds and has held a special place in our hearts and that of the audience as well. a timeless classic, the 'ramayan' has given us the momentum to create more such innovative and enriching family entertainers. expect all this and much more from imagine in the coming months!"

adds director anand sagar, sagar arts, "this show holds a special place in our hearts not only because it is the 'ramayan' but also because this was the new generation's attempt to recreate the magic that our revered father, dr. ramanand sagar had created with his blockbuster show over twenty years ago. we are delighted that the show was such a success, connecting with audiences across the country. it has helped us keep our father's legacy alive."

catch the timeless legend of "ramayan" every monday to friday at 09 : 30 pm only on ndtv imagine as its on it's final chapter!!!!

Chatter, I agree that they should have mentioned Praphulla's role as Indrajeet! Everytime they overlook Mr. P and he deserves recognition as much as the Raghuvansh princes! His role was also critical in Ramayan!
