Tara's dream

Chandana Sharma is no new face in the telly world, but with every performance she has given, she has left a mark in our hearts, she has more on offer in Yeh Dil Chahe More.

From being a young and chirpy teenager in Just Mohabbat, she is now chasing her dreams to marry Shah Rukh Khan - the man of her dreams, in STAR One's week old on-the-road series - Yeh Dil Chahe More (YDCM).

Catch up with Chandana Sharma, a Leo by birth who completely relates to the lead character - Tara, to the extent that she also loves to marry Shah Rukh Khan, (but only in the next life, that she believes will happen). Read on to find out more about what Chandana has to say about Tara.

Are you a fan of Shah Rukh Khan in real?
Yes, a hard core fan. I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh! I have been lucky, I have had the opportunity to work with him on two occasions, the first time, it was during the Santro ad, I was really nervous, but he really makes me feel comfortable, he is ready for many takes, he is very interesting. By the second time, when I shot for the Airtel Ad, I was at ease, it was more fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

How did you get to play the lead as Tara in YDCM?
While doing two shows, Home Shanthi Home, the producers approached me with the concept, and then Zeenal, the producer, narrated the script. I thought the strong point of the show is the fact that it is not bound inside the studio or in a room, it's out-there in the real world. The fact that its a on-road show was exciting.

The idea is new. The girl is different, she actually plans to run away and marry SRK. I have not worked in a daily and was choosy about the shows that were offered, but this one is great! This is really up my sleeves.

Tell us more about the character - Tara?
When I first heard about the character. I thought Tara was mad… She actually plans to run away from home and marry the country's biggest star. Then I realized, that all of us have dreams, some are strange, but how many of us actually follow them?

This girl has the attitude to follow her dreams, pursue it until she gets there. That's the best part about her. She is larger than life... Life is a canvas for her and she is all set to colour it to the best!

She is not a regular girl, she wants to enjoy every thing in life. Since she has grown up as a daughter of a rich businessman she thinks she has missed out on many things and wants to make up for all that, she relishes the food at a dhabha, she really explores life.

Does the Chandana Sharma in you identify with Tara?
Initially I thought she is eccentric, but as I started playing the role, she is so much like me, my Zodiac is Leo and and I am very bossy and I have my way out at home or I scream and fight. More over, its my dream to marry Shah Rukh Khan, but this is reality, and since that can't happen now. I plan to marry him in my next life, if not now, I pursue it then!

Why o you think YDCM is different from your other serials?
The show has energy. It has a new artist every week so it has a pace, Tara and Veer are always on the move. The new artist who comes in every week, keeps our energy level high. One can't stop until finding out where next.

Tanuja Niranjan's script has it all, dancing singing, fun, everything. Every scene has a graph of emotions, sarcastic comedy and movement. The truck in which we travel is one of its kind and it is a character by itself.

The on-the-road part is the strong hold, the story and the characters are lovable and one can relate to the characters who dare to dream and achieve the same. They undergo lots, go to all kinds of places from a goon's house to a kabeela.

The show is high on masti and adventure.

What are your thoughts about eloping with someone?
That's not what Tara does, but about me, I think I would fight it out at home for what I want and I am sure they'll agree. But for others who want to elope, if that's the last resort, then I guess you should, but remember that your parents have brought you up with lots of love, I guess 'All's well that ends well'. So take the call!

Any incident during the shoot that is memorable or embarrassing?
Embarrasing... many, Tara is very accident prone, Veer keeps warning her of the gutters on her path, but she lands up in them nevertheless. I am like that too, I actually fell off the truck, as the truck jerks hard and throws us off it's back.

About fun times, I really enjoyed shooting the song in the kabeela, its an old song that is remixed, its real fun, you should look out for this one.

Any current or future projects?
I have no time for anything else…

Message for your fans:
For all those who are habituated to the usual saas-bahu drama's, give YDCH a shot, I am definitely sure you'll get hooked on to it. The characters are being explored to the best.

Also, please be kind to animals, all you have to do when you see a injured animal, is call organizations that take them in their charge. If you don't want to be the one treating and caring for it, just let others do the same. You will feel satisfied, this is my request, please!
