MUMBAI: Star Plus has clawed its way back to take the No 1 spot, after being edged out by newbie Colors for two consecutive weeks.

The News Corp-owned flagship channel in India has clocked 280 GRPs (gross rating points) for the week ended 25 April, ahead of the Viacom18 Hindi general entertainment channel which tripped 29 GRPs to close at 256 GRPs.

Riding high on movies, Star Plus added six GRPs during the course of the week. The channel reaped 67 GRPs from a showcase of titles like Welcome, The Hero, Main Hoon Na and Bhagam Bhaag, up from the earlier-week kitty of 37.4 GRPs.
Colors lagged behind in the movie game with 41 GRPs, down from the prior week 46.6 GRPs, according to Tam data (HSM, C&S 4+). Interestingly, Colors also aired Welcome besides Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Race.

"The place for the top slot has become volatile and movies seem to be the divider between the two at this stage," says a media observer.
Meanwhile, Zee TV has maintained its third position with 212 GRPs, as against 232 GRPs in the previous week.

Sony Entertainment TV climbed back to fourth spot with 92 GRPs (73 GRPs), followed by NDTV Imagine with 75 GRPs (90 GRPs). Star One pocketed 56 GRPs while Sahara One got 45 GRPs, Sab 43, 9X 24 and Real 18.
