A majority of the films that Shahid Kapoor has worked in the past have mostly been hardcore commercial films, but it could be called a co-incidence of sorts that the films which are set to release in 2009 are not the usual commercial stuff that we expect from Shahid.
Leading the way is Vishal Bhardwaj's KAMINEY, which from the looks of it (promos!) is a typical Vishal Bhardwaj dark-noir film. Shahid says that he is very impressed with Vishal's treatment and handling of the subject, as its very imaginative and away from any league. Adding that he salutes Vishal for his clear thinking, Shahid quips in that working with Vishal has certainly help him move ahead as an actor.
Talking about Ahmed Khan's PAATHSHAALA, he says that it too is a very different kind of film, though an out an out entertainer. He essays the role of a music teacher, and it's a guest appearance which he did for friend Ahmed Khan. In fact, the audience would find something different even in Yash Raj's untitled film with Rani Mukherjee.
Well, looks like Shahid has started taking risks as far as his career is concerned and we, the audience are more than happy as we would get to see a different Shahid throughout 2009.
