Nintendo Wii - the gadget that makes people 'most happy'

London, Feb 27, 2009 (ANI): The Nintendo Wii has beaten off the iPod to become the gadget that "makes people most happy", says a new British poll.

According to the survey of over 2,500 callers to The Gadget Helpline, a phone service that consumers having problems with broken electrical equipment can call for help, the results underline the increasing popularity of games consoles, once considered a hobby for young men.

The Wii, made by Japanese giant Nintendo, topped the poll, with Microsoft's Xbox 360 coming in fourth place and the hand-held DS console coming in eighth place, reports The Telegraph.

The 'crowned' gadget allows players to use a hand-held controller to simulate a sport, such as golf or bowls, pretend to ski jump or even play the ukulele - activities far removed from the fast cars and shooting games favoured by software manufacturers in the past.

A spokesman said: "With the world now quite literally at our fingertips, we're fast being robbed of the need to socialise with other humans, but the success of games consoles shows that there remains huge appeal in the concept of sharing time and space with friends and loved ones."

What do you all think about this? Does Wii deserve to be there?

I think the Wii deserves to stay there, yes, because Nintendo have been very creative with the console. The console has opened to many markets that previously hated gaming. Families play together. People meet and use the Wii fit to lose weight and tone thier body. The elderly in old homes play golf and have a laugh. It is not just a man with a rifle shooting somebody on the internet! Little children can play mario and run around in the room....not just sit there and lose out on exercise (vital for development). The genre of gaming compared to xbox and playstation is different. I could describe the Wii as a family friendly console.

Plus Nintendo suffered huge loses with Nintendo gamecube due to xbox and ps2, but now it has created its own market. For xbox and playstation this is bad news as this new market that has accepted the wii will remain loyal to nintendo and future consoles from them.

According to you, what are the top 5 pieces of electronics?

Well I have numbers 2, 3 and 4. I think list is very accurate...nothing else I can think of.

What's one piece of electronic listed above, you think is worth its money?

Once again I would say N. Wii. It is cheap, fun and exciting. What more do you want? I think the one that is not worth the money is the iphone 3G. It is a brillant phone but it is clearly over priced.

Well, yh it deserves it kind of . It really makes me and my lil brother happyyyyy !!!!! It is really creative and has got alot variety of gamess.. my dad lovssss golfff ! Me an my brotherr love to play guitar hero 3 .... and also the surgery gamee !!! yh ..like magnificent me says - its famil frenlyyy. .. all my father included my parents ( sometimes) - we play bowling and wrestlinggg !!!!!!

Nothing is really worth the money.. they all too expesive .. I would go for iPhoneee !!!! its all in there.. quite worth 300 pounds. acutally may be not . if it was 200 pounds it would be better !!

Very nice topic!

I definitely agree about iPod. It saves my life and me from getting bored at certain times. So it's a life and time saver!

Don't know about the others because I am not really a gadget person. I still have to update my iPod.
