The year 1994 was a landmark year for the pageant industry in India Sushmita Sen won the Miss Universe title after winning the Miss India crown. Sushmita Sen became the first Indian woman ever to win the Miss Universe crown. The same year the runner-up of Miss India, Aishwarya Rai, won the Miss World title. Both the Miss Universe and Miss World contests were won by Miss Indias Sushmita Sen (Miss India) and Aishwarya (Miss India 94 runner-up) respectively. Today Rai is a global star and a leading Bollywood actress.

I'm probably the only one but I've never understood how Sushmita became Miss Universe, cos I've never found her attractive.
And Ash was so breathtaking back then.

it wasn't sush's looks it was her wits. even when she won ms india, before the last round sush and ash were tied with points. but sush got more points in the last round for her answer and won the ms india title!! everyone was 100% sure it was going to be ash. sush winning it was a huge surprise and ash was visibly disappointed at that time.

Well, Sush was breathtakingly beautiful in her own way...She was an intelligent women, beauty didn't only depend on face value...F

Both are beautiful! But I find Ash more beautiful, then again beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so it differs from person to person! Ash looked stuning then and still does!

I guess you're right there. I meant to say I've never understood how so many have found her the best looking, but I guess that answer lies in the fact that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, cliche I know.
