| Bollywood's svelte and superfit stars tell all about their daily diet and workout regimen. Rani's gym: Rani Mukherji has been busy buying a treadmill, elliptical machine, exercise bikes, weight benches, pull-up bars, exercise balls, dumb-bells and weights. No, she's not opening a gym, but has been splurging to set up her own fitness room at home. Aided by her trainer Satyajit Chaurasia (who also works with Aamir Khan), Rani puts in two hours daily at the gym and alternates between yoga, combination circuit and weight training, cardio and the elliptical machine. She also changes her diet every 10 days. What's on the anvil we wonder? A Ghajini with Rani out for revenge, la Uma Thurman in Kill Bill? Neil Nitin Mukesh seems to be gaining and losing weight at will! For Kabir Khan's New York, Neil put on eight kilos in a fortnight for the first half of the film, and then sheds them all in a matter of days. The weight swing was monitored by his personal trainer. Wish we could lose our extra eight kilos with such ease. Sigh! Hand over that cupcake. Neil says, "My calorie count would be about 2,500 a day. Then I burn out approximately 1,000 to 1,100 per day. These days I'm eating steamed fish for both lunch and dinner. I take in approximately 140 grams of proteins. Besides that, I avoid carbohydrates and fatty food as much as possible because there's a tendency to put on weight in my family." Bipasha Basu: "My gym routine is a priority, and if I have two hours free, I spend half an hour with John and the rest of the time in the gym or in a swimming pool. I follow no diet regime at all. I just work out like crazy in the gym and keep on my toes the whole day." Did she really say that! We can't begin to understand Bipasha's priorities. Johnnie baby, we are free to spend the remaining hour and a half you. Shilpa Shetty: I don't avoid any food. My calorie intake is about 2,000 per day. I don't need that much carbs because I don't do manual work. I eat non-vegetarian food every day except Thursday. My breakfast is a bowl of porridge and normal tea. Then I work out (three-four times a week). After I return, I've a protein shake, two dates and eight black raisins. My lunch at 2.30 p.m. comprises one roti (bread) made of five different kinds of grain. And I must have ghee (butter) on my roti, can't do without ghee on my roti, vegetables done in refined oil, chicken and daal. Then if I've a craving for something sweet I have a kulfi or a chocolate. I've green tea late afternoon and I've lots of hot water throughout the day. Evening, I've a flavoured soya milk. Then a cup of tea, no food until dinner, unless I feel hungry, then maybe an omelette sandwich. Dinner at 9.30 - lettuce salad with pomegranate or apple. And I avoid roti in the night. I'm a late sleeper. Link http://www.indya.com/fashion/article/article.aspx?bid=2009/February/News_20090224_43 |
