Okay so I finished reading the book... only took me about an hour and a half.... so here goes...
-------------------------------------- SPOILER-------------------------------------------
The fact this book is non-fictional is amazing.... it's so hard to believe that someone could have gone through so much torture and then live to tell the tale... I would have loved to know if the writer found his mother and sisters... but I guess he wishes the same! The scene where his father was slowly dying right in front of him was so well-written... only the writer knows what he really must have gone through... All in all, this book was extremely well-written... I quite enjoyed reading it... thanks for the recommendation, Mahi!

He never found his mother and sisters.😭 I read this book twice (once for English Class, and the other time for World Religions class). We talked a lot about the book afterwards and our teacher told us that he never found his mother and sisters, though he's never really given up. The terrible thing is that he doesn't know if they're alive or dead, so he doesn't even have closure.😭
But it was a great book to read, as it really conveyed to me the horror of the Holocaust as no other book (about the Holocaust) did. I would never have been as brave as Eli Weasel had I gone through what he did. I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't read it, but I absolutely recommend reading it.

Night is one of the books that live with you as long as you live. It's not of the books that you read to pass some time and then forget about it.

This books makes you raise a lot of questions. It makes you question why certain things happen, It makes you question the notion of justice. It makes you question the notion of complaints.

It makes you analyze your life and makes you think why we complaint so much when we've got everything in life.

I can understand how much it would've hurt Mr. Wiesel to talk about all those things, to talk about all those moments that seemed nothing less than a terrible terrible nightmare. I can't believe how anyone could tolerate so much and still be so strong. I must salute him for that.

I have read this book so many times yet every time I read it it leaves me in tears. It's a heart touching and heart breaking book.

Each and every description and event shakes you completely.

I can never forget this passage... it makes me cry everytime.

Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed.
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky.
Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever.
Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live.
Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself.
Never.

I just bought the book but I haven't read it as yet. I did however flip to teh back and read the authors acceptance speak for the Nobel Peace Prize and that testifies of his struggles and the effect it has had on how he views life makes you respect him all the more.
There are few books that truly touch you, and I can tell by all your comments here and from the little I had time to read so far, that this is truly one of those books.
Will edit my comments later if the topic is still open to discuss, if not, Thanks for the great suggestion!

Ok I've finished the books and I I must say that it is truly remarkable to see the strength of teh human spirit and also the evilness that exists in man.
This book was heart-wrenching and it makes me a little angry, that such devastion could have occured for such a prolonged period in mordern history and no one helped in time. It boogles my mind how Hilter was able to get away with these crimes for so long!
The book itself was beautifully written and honestly written as well as the author does not "sugarcoat" the truth of the event or even his own failings as a son.
To me the most outstanding moment in the story, is when he told of how he eventually lost his golden crown. I felt phantom pains as that description and even now as I type this.
A must read.
