| Bobby's favourite Dosti scene |
Real-life best friends Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar come together for the third time — after Ajnabee and Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon - in producer-director Suneel Darshan's Dosti.
Casting around
Says Suneel, "The casting for Dosti just happened — luckily, Bobby and Akshay are best friends off-screen too, and that's the best thing that happened to my film.
They share a great rapport and comfort level. There was no rivalry, and that made my job easier. Before the camera, they are very much at ease.

What's film about?
"It's about the friendship between a commoner (Raj, played by Akshay Kumar) and his rich friend (Karan, played by Bobby Deol), and how friendship surpasses all obstacles.
Since films have already been made on the subject, I have tried to avoid the earlier clichs and made it for today's times. Karan is today's urban guy, with a wild lifestyle; yet, he's extremely vulnerable and searching for something to fill his emotional vacuum.
His busy socialite parents have little time to give and that's when Raj walks into his life. He loves Karan unconditionally and corrects him without reprimanding him – a friend who's sincere, loving and honest.

| Akshay and Bobby in a sombre mood |
Raj is in love with Anjali (Kareena Kapoor), his childhood sweetheart, but is too shy to admit his feelings; Karan, who has had lots of relationships, falls in love with Kajal (Lara Dutta) but she gives him a tough time."
Juhi in it too
"She's always been my favorite actress, ever since I saw Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. In Dosti, she plays Aditi, Akshay's friend, a silent support who stands by him, come what may."
Bobby's special scenes
Says Bobby, "There's not just one, but many. One emotional scene I recall is where Akshay and I are talking about some moments in our life. He's stressed, but not showing it. Raj keeps to himself and doesn't express his emotions, while I always say what I want to say."
In another one, I am in the bath and Raj is telling me how to handle my relationship. That's so true to life; as friends, we seek advice on chick scenes. I love the character of Karan because he is not one-dimensional.
He's a party animal, yet sensitive and vulnerable. Dosti is special to me as I cherish friendship in real life. I have lots of friends and can identify with the moments in the film. It worked a lot better for me."
