It's Dollie's turn to have a makeover

It looks like it's the week for makeovers, a la Jassi, on television.

This time, it's Princess Dollie's turn. Actress Karishma Randeva, who plays the title role in Hello Dollie (Star Plus), is ready to compete with Jassie's glamorous makeover on rival channel Sony.

"It's a strange coincidence, I guess. My character will have a major makeover in hairstyle — no permed look anymore — wearing rich, royal outfits.

And to match my glam looks, I will be sporting a tiara when I settle into my palace and the kingdom of Suryavan next week onwards," gushes Randeva, who has discreetly walked out of Tumhari Disha where she played the character of Rano.

"It was impossible to for me to manage the shooting dates of both the serials, so I decided to drop out of Disha. Dollie is an author-backed role," explains the actress.

Now that her romantic track with "commoner" lover boy Nikshay (Mayank Anand) has ended with a nasty tiff, was romance some sort of taboo for her in the palace?

With a naughty glint in her eyes, she reveals, "In later episodes, they will introduce a new actor to play a Prince who will woo me royally!"

Yeah, i agree with u, she does look so different. I think dolreena (thats wat i like 2 call dollie) looks better with curly hair, but she still looks nice with straight hair.

The name Sagar has become synonymous with small screen success. Their desi version of Princess Diaries that traces the story of a simple, clumsy girl-next-door who has never dared to dream big till she suddenly discovers that she's royalty, has caught the interest of couch potatoes in a big way. Hello Dollie, with Karishma Randeva in the title role, brings back memories of a heady Roman Holiday with Princess Audrey Hepburn and how she is caught between love and duty at the end. Dollie is faced with an equally tough decision as the throne beckons while childhood love, Nikshay draws her back to her old life. Uneasy sure is the head that wears the crown. The other serial that is steadily climbing the charts is the suspense drama Hotel Kingston on STAR One. Have to give it to the Sagars, whether it's mythologicals, soaps or thrillers, they always seem to get the formula right.
