Hey guys, in today's episode [3rd feb] Its shown that before killing Ravan, Ram kills the Sarathi [the person who controls the horses]. I think it was wrong to show that...Ram wouldn't really kill the sarathi because it was sinply his duty to control the vraat or charriot. I think its maybe just a directorial thing....But it shouldn't have been shown like that. 😕

I definitely agree with you Dershna11! The chariot driver should not have been killed purposely by Ramji!
He was doing his job only. Ramji's enemy was only Ravan in this situation!

The texts do not specifically mentioned that Ravan's charioteer was killed by Rama , it only says that Rama broke Ravan's chariot to pieces.......I too am not very sure that Ravan's charioteer was killed 🤔

No, nothing is mentioned about Ravan's chariot either. It was just his heads being cut, and then the Brahmastra being used against him.

That said, killing charioteers was standard operating procedures in warfare - nothing symbolic here about Rama killing the sharathi.

Yes i thought so...I mean how can they show ram following the satya prem and karuna path and also teaching everyone this and then suddenely showing ram killing the sarathi...i think Sagars have made a major mistake here...

I agree. Killing the charioteers was one of the war tactics in those days. The kings, generals and other warriors who fought on chariots will have the knowledge of driving one and to defend themselves against attacks if their charioteer has been killed. Without this training they will never be allowed to fight on the chariots. The charioteer was necessary to manage the chariot - while the warrior takes care of the war and combats, the charioteer will take care of the navigation. Its like this - when two warriors fight on chariots, the one who kills the other's charioteer has an advantage. Its the same as immobilising a prey and hunting it down. Prevent the enemy from moving and then your victory is easy.
Of late, I've been posting too many 'I agree' posts. Couldn't get the posts across sooner. Today, I found it very difficult in posting replies in this site. The page closes often abruptly. Is it only me or do I have company?

I found Valmiki Ramayan written in hindi: http://valmikiramayan.agoodplace4all.com/vrbk114.php It says that Rama downs the flag of Rava's chariot ; that doesn't specifically mention about charioteer being killed only the flag of ravan;s chariot was down.
