Ashish ready to roll out Chattai

Ashish Nayar at Palolem beach Ashish Nayyar, who plays DK in Zee's Tumhari Disha, is on cloud nine these days. His dream hotel project in Goa, is almost complete. Named Chattai and set in Palolem, the resort consists of quaint huts, perched on skinny stilts. Created as a "retreat from reality", Chattai is the result of the hard work of Ashish and partner Kumuda Rao, who works with a multi-national advertising agency. Designed by award-winning Bangalore architect George John, and with valuable inputs by Raees Khan (a Panaji resident and expert on Goan properties), the project is finally open to the public. One of the huts on stilts When asked how he came up with the name Chattai, Ashish said, "The inspiration came from its main fabric of construction — chattai (hand-woven straw mats from Karnataka). Chattai has the largest offering on stilts in this region. There are just eight beach huts, spread across 8,500 square feet and ascending towards a little hillock, where a unique and very private sun-deck overlooks the site." Giving more details about the resort, Ashish said, "To create a sense of space, the six main huts are spread across three split-levels. On the ground level is the bathroom. The next level houses the unusually spacious sit-out, perfect to chill out in. A few steps higher is the bedroom, tucked away right at the top." Does this mean the actor is moving away from television and turning to full-time business? "Definitely not. Acting is still my first passion. But yes, now I will also have the responsibility of looking after Chattai," he said. tushar.joshi@mid-day.com Chattai highlights 1. A small, sunken restaurant-cum-bar will serve you simple-but-filling breakfast 2. The overall colour palette is soothing and blends with the surroundings. Usage of plastic has been kept to the absolute minimum. 3. In between sun-bathing, swimming or just lazing around, one can play ping-pong . Is the chattai standing on stilts? Does not look very sturdy. Once rough wind and Chattai udd jaayega hawa men 😆

By the looks of chatttai I dont think we need a Tsunami to do that job. One strong wind kaafi hai ...😆

for cleaning teh property fully wind will keep the destruction trails but tsunami clean for free

each chattai must have cost ashish around 10,000 rupees and he made 10 of them...😕

He mentioned that the bathroom was on the ground floor. As far as I can see there is only one floor so kya log chattai ke neeche bathroom karenge 😆
