HR is a good music director. But he is also a very good singer. I have heard many of you talking about his singing but everytime you talk about Ashiq Banaya. Yes that was very well sung. But what about the song Aap Ki Kashish... Even that is too good. Infact to me Aap Ki Kashish was better. It has a peculiar haunting melody

If these songs are haunting melody then what we do we call songs like:
piya tu ab to aa ja, ghadi ghadi mora dil dhadke, ya nayan dare dare, kahi door jab din dhal jaye...??
If you think that the level of melody is comparable in these two compartments then time has come to redefine the term haunting melody.
Yes the serial plagarizing which is on will haunt the music lovers for long, how do you call a song melodious which is not even original.....
Hindi music which at some point of time boasted of composers like Madan Mohan , Anil da, Roshan & SD Burman is in a state where it has lost it's character.............

I am not saying those are not haunting melody's. But with those even these two songs are really good haunting melodies. Especially I liked the one Aap ki Kashish...

Actually, I do agree that Aap ki kashish is better than the super hyped Aashiq banaaya aapne. I wouldn't necessarily agree that it has a "peculiar haunting melody".
I like listening to the 2 main hit songs from this movie but I do feel that like most of the new songs (only a generalization here) these days, I dont believe this album has longetivity and will probably be forgotten till a new similar song with good rhythm and techno beats comes along.
Not comparing but I would much rather listen to songs from Raincoat, Hum dil de chuke sanam and some select sundry songs from Tum Bin/Zubeidaa/Parineeta/Jhankaar Beats...
Songs by Madan Mohan... now those were what I call haunting melodies...
Just my personal opinion again so dont y'all start shouting at me next 😆

Yes riddler. The techno beat and the rhythem both together makes this particular song somewhat different. I heard it just now again. It is really much better than his previous one Ashiq Banaya.

Personally I don't like the style of HR's singing. It is nasal and sounds more like an instrument. It lacks depth.Though his voice reaches the top most note I feel like he has left his soul behind.About his music, I do like some of his songs.Still if you ask me I cannot say his music compositions are superb. They are ok.
Some example of what I call superb composition:
Yuva,Parineeta,Khamoshi,Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,Sangharsh,Jism etc.
They are not composed by yesterday's composers 😳

It's a nice song, but because I heard Sharib sing "Aashiq Banaya" better than Himesh and Vinit both, I think he can probably sing "Aap ki Kashish" better than Himesh as well. My fave song from the soundtrack of the film is "Mar Jawan Mit Jawan" sung by Abhijeet Sawant and Sunidhi Chauhan. I also like "Dilnashin Dilnashin" sang by KK.
