I agree with Sukhi I was raised in Punjab during that time and know the ordeals, Infact as a kid my cousins and used to hide under our beds because the gunshots scared us. Bhinderwala used to be a key person of Indira Gandhi's until he found out that she is not wishing well for the Sikh's that is when he retaliated and started fighting for a Khalistan. She was obviously ticked and had him killed off. He never wished bad for the Sikh's but due to the circumstances and the shooting at the Harmandir Sahib people started hating him. because they blamed him for the mayhem in Punjab.
Also because of Bhinderwala so many youngsters left home and became "Aatankwaadi (terrorists)" and got a bad name. Actually one of my Mammaji (uncle) was a Aatankwaadi, I only saw him once because he was always running and hiding. A few months later he was gunned down by the police in an encounter. Actually the police used to terrorize his family so he turned himself in and said he would help the police but they killed him anyways. Half of my family is in the Punjab Police so I know how kutte they are😆 Punjab police is humane to no one; the words of my dear brother I love so much, he is a NSG Commando now😛
Ok now the part I hate admitting😆 but the truth is truth. My mom's chacha ji who happeneds to be my Nanaji was the person incharge when Bhinderwala was hiding in Harmandir Sahib, it was he and his men who shot Binderwala down after getting the call from Indira Gandhi. He regrets shooting at the Harmandir Sahib but they had to get Bhinderwala out so they had no choice but to gun him down when he was hiding inside the Akal Takht. He loves telling about it so he told me the whole thing when I visited this year. Of course I was shocked but its the truth. He is retired now and walks to Darbar Sahib regularly.
