Juggling two married lives a task for Reena Kapoor of Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki
How do you juggle and live two parallel lives together without really trying to be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Ask Reena Kapoor who plays the role of the beautiful and delicate Rani Mittal in SaharaOne Television's Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki…. She is happy that this serial has given her the novel opportunity to perform the different shades of a woman, and is taking the success in her stride.
But there is something bothering Reena. Married happily to a software professional in real life, Reena was almost in a mental dilemma when she had to shoot as the shocked Rani who loses her husband in a fatal accident. For the versatile and vibrant actor who tries to remember her own romantic moments to get into the character of Rani while essaying the lovey-dovey scenes, she tried her best to disconnect herself on having to do the grieving scenes. She explains it rather very staidly, lest she goes into a depressing mode again. "I just kept reminding myself that I am Reena, and I am just doing my duty of acting as Rani. I was supposed to be in a state of mental shock, and this was, in a way, quite traumatic because I am myself married and such a realization, even while acting, hit me really hard."
No doubt that after the scene when Shagufta Ali, her on-screen mother-in-law had to coax and convince Rani to cry on hearing the devastating news to prevent the latter going into a frenzy, both Reena and Shagufta started crying after they had shot the intense and emotionally-laden scene. After all, that is the toughest task for an actor-getting into the skin of the character without really surrendering to those emotions. But Reena had to battle the situation with resilience. "My husband has been in Delhi for quite some time, and he was still there when I had to shoot for those scenes. So I just called him up right after that shoot but refrained myself from telling him about the event of the day at the shoot. I knew I would cry again, so I just needed to hear him talk to me."
But Reena is happy that she has a very understanding and supportive husband is praying that he is back in Mumbai soon. "We complete a year of marriage soon and I want to have him hear to be able cherish our lives and our moments together. So be it any occasion or just another day after a hard day's work, I make it a point to treasure every bit of it with him", says a smiling Reena, obscuring herself from the grim facts of life that she essays on the silver screen.
So has she been able to do justice to a depressed and devastated Rani? "Well, you will have to watch the serial to know what kind of actor I am. Although I have now brushed with fame, thanks to this wonderful serial, I am trying to keep myself balanced in my mind and concentrate on my performance." But to really grasp what is she talking about, you need to watch Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki…. on SaharaOne Television tonight at 9:00 p.m. The soap is telecast at 9 pm between Monday- Friday.
