We decided to a brief look at some movies that were too lazy to come up with their own names, and see how they match up against the original titles. Let's roll:
Dostana
Raj Khosla's film about two buddies turned on each other by the nefarious Prem Chopra remains eminently watchable because of the top-notch cast. Tarun Mansukhani's new film has nothing to do with the original -- save for being produced by Yash Johar's son Karan -- and happens to be a desification of the Adam Sandler film I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry. An entire film riffing on the Kantabai gag? Um, at least the Shilpa Shetty song is hot as hell.

Rohit Shetty's comedy filched its title from the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic. While it couldn't possibly come close to the most exquisitely pitch-perfect comedy in the history of Hindi cinema, the new one managed a few pretty loony gags in its own right.

Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna dressed as sages who can walk Jesusistically on water? Good fun but Priyadarshan's take on conmen -- you know, the film that introduced us to Akshay Kumar, the actor -- turned out to be the more quotable one.

Didja know the old one had an English tagline as well? The dramatic Rajesh Khanna starrer was called Daag: The Poem Of Love, while the Chandrachur Singh film was unforgettably named Daag: The Fire. One's a blockbuster, one's a joke, you do the math.

Milan Luthria's disastrous war film wouldn't have hurt as bad if only he hadn't cast Amitabh Bachchan and christened it with that iconic name. It's a name that conjures up brooding intensity, estranged brothers and hands with father-insulting scribbles on them. What a film.
