Rahul Mahajan left his three housemates Raja, Zulfi and Ashutosh in tears, bidding them good-bye as he made a voluntary departure from the Bigg Boss 2 after refusing to apologise for his breach of house rules of the reality show. CNN-IBN Enteratinment Correspondent Rohit Khilnani spoke to him just hours after his dramatic exit. Rahul also spoke about his political career, his much talked about friendship with Monica Bedi and the real Rahul.
Rahul Mahajan: First of all it is not eviction, it's voluntary departure from the Bigg Boss house. You must have seen the last night episode and must have known the emotions behind it. I think it started with Saturday when we were quite hungry and there was a lot of pressure. Ninety days is not an easy time, I think it's a kind of mental and physical pressure, both. All of us were quite hungry the whole day, we made some khichdi because there were no tamatar (tomato) and pyaaz (onions) and we asked Bigg Boss to give us something. We started Gandhigiri and we wrote with the lipstick of one of the girls who had left it, that 'Get well soon Bigg Boss' on the store room door and we started singing Raghupati raghav raja ram…and even then something happened. In the evening time, I and Zulfi have got acidity problem and we were hungry and there was nothing. We were hungry, tired, in the morning there was no water in the toilet; so lot of things had built up. So, I think that kind of state of mind – physical and mental – so what we decided was that if we don't get food right now, the entire dinner we will leave the show because we were really hungry. So, in that state of mind we decided to go and break the door and we said we want to leave. Nobody opened the door, we tried to break the door and we broke the door. As soon as we broke the door, Bigg Boss called us and said we will think about it and nothing happened for 15 minutes. Then we couldn't control and I think it was not anger it was hunger. Rohit Khilnani: It is a game, you guys were told the rules earlier that you won't get food. So, was it a wise decision to break these rules, climb the wall, go on and do Gandhigiri? READ: Rahul exits, Ashutosh breaks downRahul Mahajan: Gandhigiri, I think is wise but rules have been broken in different ways in the house many times, only few rules I think are left. But, I think at that point of time it is difficult to understand our psychology and because of this I stand by my decision. According to our physical, mental psychology what we decided at that point of time was right but today I won't have taken that decision but that is today's psychology because I have eaten my food, I am fresh, I am in a different atmosphere so I might not have repeated that. Rohit Khilnani: Now, that you are out and you getting all your food, you are regretting taking that decision? Rahul Mahajan: No, I don't regret because that is what has happened next day Bigg Boss called and asked all of us what is your opinion and I was not ready so I had my face pack and it was very funny and lot of people think that the show is scripted but if the show is scripted why would I have had face pack on my face, so Bigg Boss asked and I said I stand by my decision because I am a man of principals and principally at that point of time what I felt was right, I might not do it again but I would stand by to what I did then. Rohit Khilnani: Rahul, what we saw how much of it was the real Rahul and how much did you act? Rahul Mahajan: I think there is no acting, I got the Worst Actor award, for example. So, I think it was all me. People call it childish or whatever but there is also the other part of me because if you saw the childish part the matured part was to leave the game and take the responsibility so you saw both ends of Rahul from beginning - the Krishna - to the person who takes the responsibility and goes with maturity. I think it that was all me genuinely, it is like – love me, hate me but can't ignore me. Rohit Khilnani: That is true. There were 32 cameras inside but you got very close to Monica, were you not scared that people are watching you? Rahul Mahajan: Thirty-four cameras, to be precise. No, Monica is my friend so nothing immoral, indecent was there. I don't decide my friends with their history, I decide my friends with their present and their genuineness, I don't get scared to make friends and when I make friends I stand by them no matter who it is. It is not only Monica, all housemates whosoever I made friendship with I stand with their friendship, it doesn't change with person to person. Rohit Khilnani: So, you say Monica is just a friend and nothing more? Rahul Mahajan: She is right now, just a good friend. And, just a friend is not a small thing, Zulfi, Raja, Ashu all are my friends and the list is long. All the housemates are my friends, most of them so more than that in life we don't know and it was a game show and I always tell my friends it wasn't fake, it was friendship. It is a big word – friendship. Rohit Khilnani: Lastly, you played like a true politician so any chances of you entering politics in your near future? Rahul Mahajan: I don't deny any chances whenever right time comes when the country requires my services because I believe the politician word has been corrupted. No kid says that he wants to be a politician, I want to improve that image. Now, I want to be a jeans and a white shirt politician when time comes so that people from segment of society should be there. You can be an actor, you can do everything and still be a part of the system because there is something called as qualified politician. When you see the different spectrum of society I think you become more qualified to understand every level of society. Rohit Khilnani: We would love to see that, there were 34 cameras on you and now when you are out there will be more on you.
