Aamna Sharif, a hugely popular name in the television industry makes her debut with Robby Garewal's Aloo Chat. Aftab Shivdasani and Linda Arsenio, her co-stars in the film get chatty about Aloo Chat. Aftab: Hey Aamna, you were so good in Kahin Toh Hoga. Where did you disappear after it went off air? Aamna: I took a break. I was offered a lot of TV serials but I did not want to act on television anymore. I wanted to do films and heard a lot of scripts, but nothing excited me till I heard the script of Aloo Chat. Aftab: I found the title weird. I mean who has such titles for films? Didn't you find Aloo Chat funny? Aamna: To tell you the truth, it was a big put-off and I almost turned it down! But once I heard the story, I liked it! I was certain it would appeal to the audience. It was a realistic comedy and every character well sketched. Linda: I thought it was Hilarious. Even after the film was complete, people who knew I was doing a film titled Aloo Chat would give me a weird smile. I wasn't apprehensive because I knew what I was getting into. Linda: I always wanted to become an actress. So like me you always nursed a secret desire to become a film actress? AamnaYes. I have always wanted to act in films. When I was a kid, I used to entertain the guests who came to my place by miming Bollywood actresses. But coming from a conservative family, becoming a film actress was a distant dream. I knew I would not be allowed to act in films. But today my family is excited about seeing me on the silver screen. Aftab: I guess the best part of your character is that she is also Aamna. Actually I quite like the simple, straightforward Muslim girl that you are playing. And her deep love for the Punjabi boy that you fall for. I am sure every girl will relate to it. Linda: You know the best part of the film is that I don't have to speak Hindi. Though in real life I do understand Hindi and can talk very little I hardly have any Hindi dialogues in the film. At is so special about the film?
I am playing a guy called Nikhil. It's a simple film about different characters and situations dominate the characters. It's an absolutely family entertainer and the best thing about the film is its subtleness in comedy. You play a Punjabi character in the film?
Yes. I am a Punjabi in real life too and I guess that is why the director wanted me to play Punjabi. Anyways Punjabi's are happy go lucky, fun loving people. Also I did not have to flaunt my six-pack abs as Punjabi's are usually well . So that worked in my favour. Linda, you aren't of an Indian origin, so how do you manage to speak Hindi?

I play an interesting character. She is a girl from America and my role serves an interesting purpose and adds to the comical scenario to the story line. I hope the audiences like and enjoy it. Did you and Aamna Sharif get along during the film's shooting?
Of course! She is such an amazing girl, thoroughly professional and very sweet. I had great fun shooting for Aloo Chat. Whoever said that two female co-stars never get along? At is so special about the film?

Robby Grewal the director of Aloo Chat "It is a fun film, you can even say it's a funny film but within the realistic genre. There's no over-the-top humour or in-your-face slapstick comedy. Beyond that I don't want to say much. We're confident we have done our best and it's for audiences to decide when they see the film. The on-screen chemistry between Aftab and Aamna is simply superb and has to be seen to be believed. They suit the roles perfectly. It's a realistic comedy with which audiences will relate. The film has the right ingredients of Aloo Chat, which is its title. All the characters look authentic"
