For days Armaan and Riddhima exchange looks, as though their eyes do the talking. Anjali by now realizes that Armaan is totally distracted. So she decides to make a plan to separate the two. She talks to Riddhima about Armaan's past and his girlfriends… Riddhima gets upset, Armaans wins her over by telling her he has changed, and even Riddhima is convinced. The confession hasn't happened yet. But now they regularly go out, as suddenly there are so many cases that meetings that happen with just the two of them in it.
Anjali decides that this peeche se var things is not working out so she decides to execute her next plan. This is the day, when Armaan has seen a set of payals that Riddhima had liked at a stall near the mandir and he surprises her by getting them for her. She shyly takes them, as she is about to enter her house.As she is about to go her dupatta gets entangled to his watch she turns around blushing totally, they come almost close to kissing but there is a horn heard peeche se, and the moment is disturbed… both are relieved to know its some car passing by, tension main Riddhima drops the payals on the floor, armaan gestures her to wait, as he bends down to pick the payals and make hern wear them… she blushes and runs inside smiling to herself as he exlclaims… I love her! Aur main kal use ye baat bata doonga….
Anjali is listening to all this from behind the tree… she waits for Armaan to leave and she goes to Riddhima's room… Riddhima is sitting on the bed in front of the mirror with her legs folded and admiring the payal as she remembers the evening….. A flashback with the title track with all their past meetings is played in sepia mode…… Anjali walks in annoyed and Riddhima tries to hide her blush… she notices that Anjali is sad, she probes, and gets to know, that Anjali really loves Armaan…. Or so she claims… Anjali says I cant live without him I will die… cos he doesn't love me… Riddhima hugs her sister and says, don't worry di Armaan will say yes and I promise you that… the sisters hug as Riddhima sheds a tear… and Anjali gives a devious smile…
Next day, is the planned day for confession and Armaan is excited…. Riddhima walks to him and talks very casusally, the chemistry is missing, he asks her if everything is okay, and riddhima says yes, she returns the payals saying, she doesn't take gifts, he shakes her up and questions her, saying, why did u take it then, she says I don't know what I was thinking, anyway, some relationships should never cross a certain limit, and you are my friend, I cant take this from you, Arman is furious and jerks her up saying, what is wrong with you, how can u deny what is between us…. She is blunt… Atul comes in just then and he shouts at Armaan for rough handling Riddhima, Armaan pushes him away saying its hum dono ke beech ka maamla and Riddhima snaps back saying there is nothing, hum dono ke beech main… she takes Atul away to nurse him….. Armaan is angry and looks at the payal teary eyed!
In the coming days, Riddhima tries to create situations where her sister and Armaan would get together and Armaan also starts to flirt with Anjali to make Riddhima jealous. Riddima is pained but she stones her heart. Shashank one day sees Anjali and Armaan together and suggests to Riddhima that may be the two can get married. Riddhima through tears says it's a very good idea. The engagement happens where Armaan is only looking at Riddhima through out and he sings a song also keeping Riddhima in mind. At the end of the song, Riddhima goes away cryng…. Atul comes to her room to find her there… she hugs him and cries… he tells her that he will always be there for her… Armaan who also comes behind them sees the two hugging, is hurt and goes away… he speeds up the marriage process, maroing sarcastic one liners of bewafai at her, while she takes it all in pain…. At the sangeet function he sees Riddhima silently crying to herself….. and so One night before the wedding with Anjali, Armaan comes to meet Riddhima… he asks her if she really ever loved him…. She tells him, there is no use talking about all these things as he is getting married tomorrow… he persists… and she walks away…. As she walks away she by mistake drops off one of the ghungroos of the payal he had given her….. he has got his answer….. Riddhima's father sees all this behind them and he talks to Riddhima about it… he tells her he will cancel the wedding, and his daughter;s happiness is what matters. She takes a kasam from her father that he will not let it out to anyone, that she ever loved Armaan….
The wedding happens, and Anjali turns out to be a high profile wife. Armaan expects her to be a simple, saadi wearing biwi, who takes care of his family and the mother. But Anjali stops going to the hospital, she starts attending kitty parties, having booze bashes at home and she also ends up throwing a barbeque party on the karva chauth day! Riddhima on the other hand is showing fasting for Armaan on her terrace, with about to break her fast in front of his photo. Armaan unexpectedly lands there and she ends up seing his face on the other side of the channi, he now wants to know who this is for. She says someone… he knows it is for him… but she says, its for someone whom I love, you need not know him, and as she is about to walk away, she faints, armaan makes her drink the water and breaks the fast.
In the hospital also after a long period of them avoiding one another, Armaan suggests they become friends atleast, as he is ready to accept life as it is. Riddhima says I will on the condition that you will give "di-patni hone ka haq"-he reluctantly agrees. When he goes home he sees Anjali is busy in her own world. In the meanwhile both Armaan and Riddhima know and find that they love each other so much that they keep getting drawn to one another though Armaan is now a married man. So to, avoid this, when Atul proposes to her Riddhima says yes. They get engaged.
The wedding is fixed now. Riddhima comes to give out cards. When she asks Armaan tum shaadi pea a rahe ho na… he says main nahi aunga…. She walks away from there and is crying in the fire escape. Armaan comes to console her, half the fire escape scene happens as she tries to run her hand over his face, she sees a flashy diamond ring on her ring finger and she runs away from there…. She calls Atul and tells him that she wants to get married ASAP……but panditji tells them that they have to wait…
In the meanwhile Armaan and Anjali are having problems…. They are almost on the verge of divorce …. But devious Anjali doesn't want her sister to come into Armaan's life either. She hatches a plan with a friend of hers…. And tells the guy " maine poora bandipur wild life sanctuary tumhare naam likh diya hai, aur tumhare aids ward ke liye paise bhi tumhe mil jayenge… tumhe bas itna karna hai ke Riddhima ko Armaan se door rakhna hai….
The voice says: par mera baaki ka paise….
Anjali: wo sab kaam hone par….
The face is revealed to be Atuls….
Riddhima and Atul get married… and Atul realizes that Riddhima is a very nice and a caring wife. He doesn't wanna do any zabardasti with her so, he sleeps on the sofa while she sleeps on the bed. Slowly their bonding grows, and they develop and understanding for one another…. Even Arman is happy for Riddhima now as he sees her happy, though at times feels bad he couldn't get the love of his life….
Finally one day Atul decides he will tell Riddhima the truth about her sister and also say sorry.. that's the same day even Riddhima decides its time she also moved on. So she dresses up like a dulhan in a red and white for Atul and waits for him… this time all the friendship flashbacks with a different corny number is played in sepia mode for Atul and Riddhima….
She is almost ready and is about to put the sindhoor in her maang when the sindoor ki dibbi falls of her hand…. She picks it, up and makes a shocked and disturbed face as she knows its an apshagun… there is a phone call… she is about to run to take it when the red part of her dupatta gets torn and only the white one stays… she takes the call and falls down on the floor, with the news that ATUL is dead!
A shoksabha is organized where Riddima refuses to believe Atul is dead. She is still in her dulhan clothes. An old fat bitcy aunty comes and tries to break her choodis and remove her sindoor … riddhima flares up at her saying…. Her atul is still with her… she cries and cries… her friends take her away to her room…
Armaan comes to talk to her…..everyone else leaves…. He tries to shake her up talk but she dusnt move…. Finally he starts narrating how she met Atul, what all little things he did for her and then she screams out aloud and howling for him….. finally he calms her down… she hugs him clinging emotionally… he also consoles her…..
Atul's sister comes in and sees the two of them like that. Embarrassed Riddhima breaks away. She asks Armaan to leave. When Armaan comes out, all the relatives are talking about how the bahu is bacchalan…. And charitraheen….they say we cant keep such a bahu in the house.. the mother in law, throws Riddhima out of the house…. Riddhima pleads and begs and finally leaves the house with only picture of Atul's in her hand….
She wanders on the road in a white saree… and its night, she is sitting on a deserted road and a car stops in front of her. Armaan comes and says chalo mere saath….she refuses… he drags her and makes her sit in the car. He goes to her house and Anjali throws her out saying her in laws had called and told her about her kartoot….. Armaan tells her that its all untrue…. He says ji ghar main tumhare liye qadr nahi hai I wont let u stay there.. he takes a dazed riddhima to his house…. But before leaving riddhima tells him she wont come- and that she will now take care of herself- he tells her you are still my friend and atleast us haisiyat se you have to come-she agrees. He takes her to his house and tries to bring the smile back on her face. He tells her about how he never forgot her and he tells her that he will not talk about his love for her till the day he marries her and makes her his patni… Riddhima is also happy …. But she doesn't come out too expressively…Armaan's mother likes Ridhima.
Armaan's father resurfaces after days. Armaan's mother has already accepted Riddhima as the bahu of the house…. He has issues with the fact that his son is marrying a widwa…. Armaan fights his father… the father has a heart attack… Riddhima nurses him back to health… he also accepts her as the bahu….. but during the illness the father ignores the business.. and it turns out that they have lost all the family property…. And the person who has taken over it is Anjali with her new business partner Rahul….. the wedding is still fixed and Rahul and Anjali are also at the wedding…. On the day of the wedding Ridhima come to know that Rahul is infact Atul with a plastic surgery! What will she do now???
