Once Hanumanji were doing something for Shri Ram (think Hanumanji were praying, cant remember it now). And Shani-devta came there where Hanuman were doing his Ram karaye. As we all know that the nature of Shani-devta is to create obstacles, so he was creating some obstacles in Hanumanji's path. But Hanumanji did not like this as this was causing a delay in Shri Ram ji's work. In anger, Hanumanji caught Shani-devta in his tail and at the same time He continued with doing his work. Now Shani-dev did not like this as he was suffering, as not only was he tied in a tail but also Hanumanji were knocking him constantly on a big stone. So Shani-dev got badly hurt. in the end when Hanumanji finished his work and looked at shani devta, shani apologised to Hanumanji and very kind Hanuman accepted his apologie. Then Shani-dev said that he would never ever come and create obstacles in Shri Ram ji's work but also he will never ever come in the rashi of those who worship either Shri Ram or Hanuman (all the true devotees of Hanumanji) And Hanuman ji were very pleased with this.
Then Shani-dev asked Hanumanji for some oil so that he could put it on to his scars for the healing purposes and Hanumanji gave him. After having the oil Shani-dev was very pleased as the oil helped him to heal and got rid of his pain. And this is why people offer oil to Shani-dev as when oil offered to him he gets happy and relieve.
ppl take oil to his temple mostly on saturdays.
