Raman Kumar, who pioneered the soap opera genre on satellite television with Tara, is directing Millie. Both these serials have a bubbly teenaged girl in the title role. Mona Wasu will be seen as Millie.
Mona Wasu is just been seen in ads and a stray telefilm on Sahara One, but might just be the surprise package of 2005. Mona makes her debut in Star Plus' Millie in the first quarter of the year. Knowing how director vinta Nanda handles her subjects, it won't be too much of a surprise if Mona turns out to be the Tara of the year.
Millie, inspired by the popular Spanish telly novella where the lead character's name is Milagro, is the story of an orphan girl who, when she turns 18, gets her first job as a governess in an aristocratic family headed by characters played by Sushma Seth and Kiran Kumar.
As the serial progresses, the Plain Jane Millie reveals her glamorous flip side thanks to which she is able to attract the hero (Ajay Gehi).
