Size Zero fever hits TV industry
10 Sep, 2008 06:00 am ISTlReena Thapar Kapoor/INDIATIMES MOVIES

Take a close look at the small screen actresses. The actresses like Mouni Roy, Rucha Gujrathi and Barkha Bisht were fairly slim when they started off their career on TV. Good looks, great clothes and glamorous make-up, these actors had it all. But there was no way that these girls could compete with the glam dolls of the big screen.

In comparison the TV actresses were several notches below the larger than-life film actresses. "It was the perfect body language and the oomph that was missing," analyses Rucha Gujrathi. The petite actress, who played the lead in Bhabhi, is seen in a glamorous avatar in Zee TV's Waaris. "There is a drastic change in my looks. I looked awkward and gawky then, now I'm slimmer and more confident." So, 'slim' is the word that is driving TV diva's insane.

Barkha Bisht who is seen flaunting her toned body in Doli Saja Ke and a few reality shows, says: "I toned up much before the Kareena's of the world." She further adds that, "You can look good and dance gracefully if you have the perfect body. I slog my life in the gym to keep in shape. I want to be ready, who knows one day if I get a good role in a film. In life you get a chance only once, either you grab the chance or the chance grabs you."

Even the famous Krishna Tulsi of Kyunki... fame has lost a cool 5 kilos to maintain the glamour quotient. Mouni has been telling her co-stars that she eventually wants to do films and that it was Kareena Kapoor who inspired her to shed the baby fat.

Perhaps taking the cake is Panchi Bora, the lead heroine of Kayamath. She weighs only 42 kgs, inspite her height. Shopping for her is a nightmare. Its only in Bangkok that she can ffind clothes her size. The only jeans that she can get into are Calvin Klein's size zero. Draped in sarees, this actress can actually get away with no flesh on her bones. Panchi reveals, "I have always been thin. Its not a size zero mania which is keeping me on the thin side."

Argh!!! ... i hate the size zero craze going on right now .😔.. Kareena looks hell scary and so bony , she could easily pass of as a skeleton ...🤢 these actress are fine the way they ... size zero people look so ill.

yeah i understand being fit because that keeps you energetic but why do they wanna go Zero ... seriously they are just bringing risk to their lives ... and it's a hard job keeping yourself size zero .... and anyways they've got perfect bodies, so why change it ....
