Update for Monday, Sept 1, 2008:

Opening scene: Karthik tells Shanthi that he was in love with another girl before he got married to Shanthi. She was pregnant but concealed the matter from him, when he went to tell her about his getting married to Shanthi. He adds that he has since met the girl and his son, and they are none other than Manisha and Rocky. Shanthi is stunned, then she asks how he could do this dhrogam to another girl, and says she doesn't want to enjoy her life at the cost of another girl's happiness, then leaves the house with Indhu. Karthik is calling "Shanthi, Shanthi ..." but she leaves. Flash, bang! Manisha wakes up from a nightmare - all this was her dream, as Bon and a few others have already thought. CR, you need to come up with some more original thoughts, get your creative team working, many of our readers have already figured out what was going to come.

Charulatha and Madhan - both are looking miserable, and the nurse comes in saying that Periya Pechi just passed away. Charu is distraught, sobbing loudly that Athai has left her and gone, Athai who always stood by her and now her son is in jail and granddaughter in nadu theru, and all this must have preyed on her mind, and that is why she has gone to seek her own nimmadhi. Madhan tells her to control herself, and then goes and informs RK. RK is shocked at the news, then he goes to the house to see them.

RK comes to Charu's house, offers his condolences to Charu, then takes Madhan to the next room and tells him to call all the necessary people. Then he tells Madhan that SKPD has to be informed and Madhan says that the police dept. has already been informed. He tells Madhan once again to inform all the necessary people, and when Madhan continues to stand without saying anything, tells him to inform Abi, and that it is necessary. Madhan has a strange expression - I would call it a vilakku ennai kudicha expression.

Charu is trying to call someone, the phone rings in Abi's room, she is on the bed, looks to see who is calling, evidently she knows Charu's number by heart, since she knows from just the number who it is, and says "Now why is she calling, to gloat over my present condition?" and disconnects the phone. Charu tries repeatedly, and Abi disconnects every time. Madhan asks Charu if she is trying to contact Abi, and Charu says that the line is getting cut. M says that it is not the fault of the line, it is Abi herself who is disconnecting the line, and to leave her alone. C says that it is not possible to do so, and continues to try calling her.

A police car comes up to ACD's house, and Commish gets down along with an officer. They go inside, and ACD and his dad welcome them. Commish gives ACD some flowers and congratulates him on his steady recovery and improvement. ACD rasps a little "Thanks", they all sit down and Commish gets down to business. He asks how ACD is doing now, and ACD says that he is a little bored with nothing much to do, and Commish says that they have an idea - how about if ACD comes back to work, not to active duty but to a desk job? ACD doesn't look too pleased, but Commish points out that it will give him something to do, and yet won't be too strenuous. Dad feels that it is a good idea, and Commish takes his leave, telling ACD to let them know when he wants to come back

.Srini comes to the hotel where Abi is staying, and she is outside in the gardens. Srini comes in huffing and panting and she asks him if he is training for the Olympics and why is he huffing like this? (He needs to do some serious training for the next four years if he is training for the Olympics) Srini says that "pochu, pochu" and she asks What? and he says "Oru uyir pochu." She asks him what the matter is, and he does some more drama before finally coming to the point and telling her that PP is no more. Both of them wipe away some invisible tears, and then he goads her a little by saying that Charu should have called her and it was left to him to be the one to inform her. She is honest enough to admit that C did try to reach her but she cut the connection, but S will not let C off the hook, he says that she should have sent someone to tell Abi if she couldn't reach her on the phone, after all, it was her grandmother and what with her father being in jail, they will have to release him on parole to perform his mother's last rites. This news makes Abi perk up a little, she leaves to go to the crematorium because S says that they would have taken her body there by this time. By the way, I am sure there is more than one crematorium in Chennai, how does Abi know where to go, or is there just one crematorium for the whole of Chennai? Abi wants to know if S will also go along, but he says he will offer his prayers silently from there itself, and for her to go alone. She drives off immediately, no need to carry a purse or a driver's license or even a cell phone.

ACS and a couple of policemen at the jail, they hand over an envelope to the prison superintendent, saying that it is a parole order for SKPD, so that he can perform his mother's last rites, then the supdt says something to a jailer, who goes looking for SKPD. SKPD asks him why he is calling him so soon after locking him up in his cell, the jailer explains that his mother is no more, and SKPD is recalling his last words to his mother "Seekiram poi tholai, nee po ...". Camera freezes on SKPD's tearful face ...

Update for Tuesday, Sept 2, 2008:

Today's show consisted mostly of commercials and descriptions of tomorrow's special programs in honor of Vinayaka Chaturthi (none of which have any bearing or relevance to the occasion), with a few minutes of actual story telling.

Opening scene: SKPD is in the jailer's office, with tons of policemen and ACS present, and the jailer is explaining (presumably) that he is being released on parole to perform his mother's last rites. Then he is led into a van, with about eight gun-toting policemen escorting him, with a jeep with six rifle toting commandos, and a white Ambassador with ACS and three more rifle toting policemen. They go to the burial grounds, and the roads are deserted throughout.

The procession arrives at the burial grounds, where Abi, RK, Madhan and a few other guys are already present. One man is busy arranging the cow dung cakes on the pyre. SKPD and Co. alight from the van and jeep and car, and he comes to the pyre. The dung cakes are removed to let him have a glimpse of his mother's face, he has memories of a pleasant time with his mother, when he fed her and massaged her legs, and then of a more unpleasant time, when she came to visit him in the jail, and he told her to "poi tholai". He is told to circumambulate the pyre three times, and when he nears Abi, she breaks down and cries "Appa.." and he cries some more, and then he finishes the three rounds, and raises his hands. ACS asks his hands to be uncuffed, and someone hands him the torch, and he lights the pyre.

He is led back to the van, all the commandos and policemen take their respective posts, and the procession takes off for the jail. However, this time they seem to be taking a different route, since they seemed to be passing roads with lots of stores and shops and people. Now we see barbed wire on the road, and then the jeep in the lead goes over the wire, and its tires are slashed. The jeep comes to a halt, and so does the van, and presumably the Ambassador. The six rifle toting commandos jump out of the jeep, and all of them are busy looking at the tires (how many TN commandos does it take to look at a car's tires to see if they are flat? Answer: as many as are in the car.) While they are all thus engaged, a smoke bomb goes off in the van, a black SUV draws up in front of the van, blocking its path, and four commandos, dressed in black, with masks, jump out, get into the van, where all seem to be unconscious. Someone removes SKPD's glasses, then he is blindfolded and escorted out of the van and into the SUV, and then the SUV takes off. It is only now that our wonderful commandos look up, see the car taking off, then they all run to the van, look inside, and guess what? The prisoner is gone!

JC and Commish - Commish is very angry that SKPD has escaped, with so many policemen present - he doesn't know that it is all part of CR's plan to make TN police look like total idiots - ACS comes there, and Commish reprimands him for letting this happen. The jailer comes and Commish and the jailer confer in muted tones.

Charu in front of PP's garlanded portrait - Charu is tearful, recalling how she couldn't reconcile with SKPD, and Abi wouldn't reconcile with her, and Madhan comes with the news that SKPD has escaped from police custody. He adds that there are shoot at sight orders out for SKPD, and she feels sorry that Abi will be all alone if anything happens to SKPD. She says that she was waiting for Abi to come to her and then they could have had a good cry together (!), and Madhan tells her that Abi has always been like that, preferring to believe the bad guys, such as her adoptive father Jambu, and now SKPD. She talks of how the swan can separate the milk from water, but Abi cannot seem to distinguish between good and bad. She is sorry that Abi will be in nadu theru if anything happens, and says that she is ready to shower all her paasam on Abi if she comes to her.

SKPD being escorted by the commandos to some deserted house. His blindfold is removed, and he sees .. Sameer in front of him. He recognizes Sameer, and says that wasn't he shot? Sameer says that he was, but he is now okay, because they have doctors too, and introduces SKPD to his boss, who has been looking the other way thus far, and now turns around to face him. It is another guy who is looking just as unkempt as Sameer and badly needs a haircut and a donation of a comb. FREEZE...

Update for Thursday, Sept 4, 2008:

Opening scene: SKPD and Sameer's henchmen. Sameer introduces SKPD to his equally unkempt boss. Boss tells SKPD in a fake Kashmiri (?) accent that they know all about him. They brought him out because he can be of use to them. SKPD says that they are like God to him because they brought him out of jail. (I guess goondas like him worship bigger goondas).

JC talking to someone on the phone, looking absolutely stressed out. Two policemen come into the room, they tell him that all the coast guard units have been alerted to look for SKPD, all the adjoining areas are being searched (after the bird has flown!) and JC tells them to check with the jailer re. his associates in the jail and also watch all the antisocial elements in the area. He also tells them to get the Women's Unit to keep an eye on Abirami, since she was in touch with her father the last time he disappeared.

Abi is being questioned by a policewoman about her father's whereabouts, and she is being rude. She is warned about her rudeness. Her lawyer comes in and says that she should not be questioned in this manner, considering her status and position, and the policewoman retorts that they know her status very well. She adds that Abi used to call her father on her phone last time, so that is why she could know about her father's hideout this time. Srini and his sidekick, Vishnu, barge in and tell the policewoman that she cannot question A like this, to which they are told that they should not be in there at all, and are asked to leave. The lawyer and A are allowed to leave, after being reminded about the shoot at sight orders for SKPD. Abi wears a glum expression.

Charu comes to see RK, and says that she is concerned about her daughter, just as he is concerned about his son. RK says that in her case, there is a veli (fence) which is causing the problem, while it is a thali causing the problem in his case. He tells her to go and try to cross the veli, and she asks him to intercede on her behalf. She is afraid that the father's sins will come down on the daughter. What about the daughter's sins? RK agrees to try and speak to A again.

Manisha, Anitha and Arjun - Manisha says that she has made up her mind and has decided to leave (I thought this decision was made a long time back. When is she going to implement it? This is becoming like a puli varudhu case.) Anitha wants to know why, and she again talks of how she didn't want K to meet her again and again, how he is not being nice to Shanthi after having met up with her, and how she doesn't want to spoil Shanthi's life. We have heard all this from you already, why repeat it again and again? She says that she and Rocky will be leaving, and here Anitha objects, saying that she has raised him all these years, and she will not let Manisha take their family's vaarisu away. Manisha is determined to do so. FREEZE ...

I don't know if I missed anything in the last scene. Please feel free to add it if I did so, because we switched to tennis in the last few minutes, and Andy just lost and Novak won, and I don't know whether to be happy or sorry. I like both of them, and I can't say the same of SKPD or Srini or Sameer or the other terrorists.

Narathar Sreeni and Vishnu bring Abhi from the police station to the former's guesthouse. Sreeni spews saccharine sweet stuff (alliteration unintended) about how he was heartbroken to see his sammandhi staying in a hotel. He says he is glad she has now agreed to move into the guest house and advises her to forget all the bad things that had happened and to just focus on the positive. He adds that what she needs most now is peace. Abhi responds that she doesn't know how she would repay Sreeni for his kindness. Sreeni says what he has done is his duty and he isn't doing anything in expectation of repayment. Abhi apologises for having misunderstood him before. Sreeni and Vishnu then unfold the plan of an office block and home complex that they intend to build for Abhi. Sreeni says Abhi had associated with all the wrong people in the past and he wants her now to rebuild her life as an independent entrepreneur (by partnering two new bad hats now? And, where does Abhi get the money for investing in such a project?) Vishnu announces that the complex can be completed in just 9 months. A lady comes in just then and Sreeni introduces her as the maid he has hired to wait upon Abhi. Both men leave and as Abhi looks at the plan, a triumphant look returns to her face.

Charu is polambifying about dear daughter and Madhan tries to console her. Charu says no matter how bad her actions were, Abhi is still her daughter, and, as Mom, she can't bear to see her getting into trouble with the police. She goes on to wonder why she was struggling to build a business. She says there is no purpose in life and in her business struggle if her daughter was estranged and in trouble. Madhan says although he cannot forget or forgive Abhi's actions, he admires her for her guts and determination. He assures Charu that, given these qualities, Abhi will be able to fend for herself well, just like her own Mother. Madhan then tells Charu that she shouldn't just focus on Abhi as there are other important tasks that she has to do (yeah, yeah; Charu has to look after the whole wide world). Madhan reminds her that ACD is on the way to recovery and it is about time they get him a wife since he has lost his Mom (what logic about the purpose of wives!). He adds that Priya has only you (Charu) and us (RK family), and it is our duty to get her married to ACD. He adds that Charu will be able to get some satisfaction out of seeing ACD and Priya married. Charu gently reproaches Madhan for saying "you and us"; we are all one family, she stresses. She then instructs Madhan to go speak to the astrologer for suitable marriage dates.

Eshwar in jail. A jailor is trying to get him to confess to what he knows about SKPD. He chides Eshwar for having tried to kill SKPD in jail and having increased his own sentence instead of confessing to the police and leaving it to them to punish SKPD. Eshwar says it was a moment of rage that pushed him to try to kill SKPD. The jailor points to a prisoner in the next cell. He says the man was a principal, in the noble profession of teaching others, but in a moment of rage he had landed in prison. He reminds Eshwar that he has a child and can still have a life if only he would spill the beans about SKPD. Eshwar finally agrees and starts to speak. Muted dialogues. Eshwar is then heard saying that Joe and Sameer were friends and since SKPD and Joe had an association, SKPD would most likely be with Sameer now (it's rather convoluted logic but even then it shouldn't take the police great intelligence work to arrive at this conclusion.)

ACD is at home doing some paperwork. Priya is about to go to the market when ACD's dad spots her and offers to do the task himself. Priya says she has a regular vegetable seller that she gets her suppy from and it's best that she goes herself. ACD buts in to say it was he who had requested Priya to cook a certain keerai soup for him daily. As Priya goes into the kitchen briefly, ACD's dad tries to tell his son that it's about time he got hitched to Priya, who has been waiting on him. Just then, in walk Madhan and Charu to talk samandham, to Priya's delight. Some pleasantries are exchanged about ACD's health. Charu then says Priya is not just her employee but also like her family, so she has come to speak samandham. Madhan announces that the astrologer had said that Aavanee and Aipasee were good months for marriage and that the exact date would be fixed after looking at the horoscopes of bride and groom. As ACD's Dad is about to go get ACD's horoscope, ACD breaks all hearts and says he doesn't want to get married as yet. (since the director has to stretch the wedding to the final episode in December). He says Priya is a godsend for him and he would be honoured to marry her but he has a duty to accomplish first before marriage. He says he has achieved the distinctive label of "Encounter Durai" but had been shot by Sameer, who has gone scot free. He adds that his mother had died as a result of the shock of her son's shooting. He, the son, has now recovered and his first duty should be to kill Sameer with his own hands. That killing would be tantamount to doing the real thidhi for his mother. Until that deed is done, he won't marry. ACD adds that this decision is final. All look grim, especially Priya, who looks like she will break into tears.

Cut to Sameer's boss, SKPD and Sameer in the jungles. Freeze on Sameers boss. (ACD actually now has double duty -- to kill not just Sameer but also his boss. Oh, and not forgetting SKPD.)
