Bheeshma

Ok, first of all apologises if this has been posted before.

I would like to know from which authentic source did Ekta get from that Bheeshma said he will leave Hastinapur if Duryohana became king (shown on 7 aug 2008)

From my knowledge and understanding, Bheeshma vowed that whoever sat at the throne he will serve him as he served his father and he will not leave hastinapur until it's boundaries are saved. Hence, the issue why he didn't die until Yudhistri was King and war was over.
I cannot believe that Beeshma would go back on his vows (correct me if I am wrong) and that duryohan was not to be made king at the early age but was believed that he will be.

I will welcome any comments.

This is what the epic says: -

When Dhritarashtra came to know that Pandavas were safe and had married Draupadi, then he asked Duryodhan and Karn what to do. Durodhan suggested the following ideas: -

1. Make Pandavas jealous of one-another.
2. Or, give lots of wealth to Drupad, his ministers and sons. Then Drupad will be on the side of Duryodhan.
3. Or, send some spies to Pandavas, who will convince Pandavas that it is not good for them to live in Hastinapur and that Panchal is better place. Then Pandavas will always live in Panchal and Hastinapur will be of Duryodhan.
4. Or, let our spies incite Draupadi against her husbands or Pandavas against Draupadi.
5. Or, somehow get Bhim killed. Then other Pandavas will not dare to attack Duryodhan.
6. If Pandavas still come to Hastinapur, then tempt them with beautiful girls.

Karn said that these methods will not work because Pandavas will never fight among themselves, Drupad will never be against Pandavas even if he is given whole of Hastinapur, Pandavas and Draupadi will never be against each other. Then Karn said that war is the only option.

Dhritarashtra liked Karn's suggestion and he called Bhishm, Dron and others for consultation.
Bhism was against the idea of war because, as he said, the sons of Pandu and those of Dhritarashtra were equal for him. He suggested that half kingdom should be given to Yudhisthir and half to Duryodhan.
Dron and Vidur supported Bhishm. Dhritarashtra ageed to divide the kingdom in half. He gave Khandavprasth to Pandavas.

Akhl, that is how I read and remember it when Pandavas were found save after the varanvat incident.

That's what's news to me too, ronitfan, this is the first I have heard of it , especially Dhritartira going against Bheeshma like that. I know he wanted his son to be the next king, but I am sure he never disrespected his beloved uncle.

I read that Dhristratra always told his son that he will be yuraj when older and after he has finished schooling, then the pandavas with kunti came back after Pandu's and madri's death and shakuni first conspired with duroyana and dussanna to kill Bhima with poison kheer.
