Though actor Akshay Kumar's recent films have raked in nearly Rs five billion worldwide, he considers Amitabh Bachchan as the real 'King' of Bollywood. He says, "There is only one king and he is Amitabh Bachchan. I am merely acting in a film called 'Singh Is Kinng'." He has avoided the direct reference to Shah Rukh Khan who is called 'King Khan'. In the same breath, Akshay adds that he doesn't care for any controversy on this issue. He further adds, "Bachchan has been in the film industry over 35 / 40 years and he is the real king. There are many who are around for 15-20 years and like to call themselves king." Akshay's remark is significant inasmuch as many in trade circles had commented in the recent past that the title 'Singh is Kinng' was an attempt on Akshay's part to show that he was the "King of Bollywood".
Akshay has categorically denied this and made it clear to all that he believes that Amitabh Bachchan only is the "King of Bollywood". Akshay strongly feels that even after four decades in the industry, Amitabh Bachchan is a humble man as found by him while working in seven movies with Big B. The actor made this remark movie while speaking at a promotional event of 'Singh is Kinng', which is releasing tomorrow ( August 8). Akshay, who was shooting in Los Angeles for Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Kambhakkt Ishq', had specially come to India to promote 'Singh is Kinng'. Incidentally, he also participated last month in the inaugural show of Bachchan's world tour 'Unforgettable' in Toronto.
