(Long scene). RK in front of wife's portrait polambifying about having lived a good life with her and praying for her to be with him to face any future issues. Charulatha drives up in her car and she walks into the house. She pauses and RK correctly senses her to be searching for the children. He tells her that Nallan had taken them out. They sit in the sofa in the hall. He then adds that he himself had wanted to talk to her but was not sure how, which draws a question from madam. RK comments that you had said that the Hindi-kara amma was very good with kids but she didn't seem so. Madam is surprised. RK continues that she does not seem very good with the children, except with Rakki and seems to be worried about something. She also seemed to have trouble sleeping and he had seen her sitting at the steps and crying yesterday. Also, she seemed to only talk to Manisha whenever she came but not mingle with others. RK says that maybe she needs to be taken to a Dr. He gets up and madam says that she has a good reason. RK asks her if she had this condition only recently or for a while now. Madam then goes on to talk about her own situation of not being able to be close her daughter. Ammi jaan too had a similar situation. She slowly reveals that Manisha was her daughter and RK is taken aback, Ammi jaan is near the door, overhears their conversation and decides to listen quietly.

Madam then says that Rakki is Manisha's son. She quickly adds that Manisha lost her heart to none other than Karthik. (Big shock to RK - lightning splits RK's image!) She then goes thru the whole story of Manisha & Karthik getting close in Kashmir. Their situation led Manisha getting pregnant. RK interjects asking why Karthik then marry Shanthi. Madam replies that Manisha was about to tell him when Karthik told her about having to marry Shanthi and Manisha then decided to hide that from him. RK asks her if Shanthi knew who Rakki's dad was and madam says no. Shanthi only knows that Rakki is Manisha's son. After Rakki was born she was on her way to Chennai when she lost the baby and that's when Anitha found the baby. When Anitha was about to return the babu to Manisha she came to know their story and took care of Rakki these past 6 years. When Manisha finally heard of Rakki's health troubles, she decided to move here to be close with her son. Manisha's mom too decided to move here so she could help her. When Manisha brought her mom over she didn't know who it was until after the fact. RK is in shock. Madam says something about having been worried about telling somebody all this. Now that she had told him this, she was confident he would know how to deal with this. Madam leaves with Ammi jaan hastily hiding outside.

After madam leaves, RK cries in front of his wife's picture, wondering how could Karthik do this - did they raise them this way.

Arjun is seated at home with his amma in the kitchen and Anitha lighting up a lamp in the pooja room when RK enters their house and shouts angrily "Anitha.. Anitha"! Arjun, his mom and Anitha each pause and then slowly meet at the hall. They all seem to know why RK is angry. RK stares at Anitha and slowly starts bawling like a child. He pauses and says you must be wondering why did appa come here angry and then start crying like this. Anitha is speechless. RK then holds her hand and says I should not have been your father. I should have been born your son! Anitha is still quiet. RK adds that they say its hard for a woman to keep a secret, then how did you keep this for 6 years?! Anitha then realizes RK knows everything and her face shows surprise.

Update for Monday, August 4, 2008:

Opening scene: RK is saying that instead of Anitha being his daughter, he should have been her son (I am still looking for the logic in that saying!). He talks of the great sacrifice that she has made, how it is often said that women cannot keep secrets ( who do I get mad at here? RK or CR or the dialog writers?), but Anitha has kept this great secret for six years, inspite of all the things that have been said to her. He talks of how angry he was when she walked out of his house and said she was not fit to be his daughter, and now he finds that it is actually Karthik who is the culprit here. He gets all emotional about how she has done all this for Shanthi's sake, and spends about five minutes in this vein. Anitha says she should apologize to him for keeping this a secret, he stops her and says he should apologize, then Arjun apologizes for the same reason, and again RK says he should be apologizing, and then Arjun's mom says ... You guessed it! After five minutes of everyone praising Anitha and apologizing to each other, he finally leaves.. Thank You, God!

Manisha is going in a car and the phone rings. It is Anitha telling her that the cat is out of the bag, and it has been let out by none other than Charu madam. By the way, M was supposed to be on her way to work as she said to Anitha. Anitha tells her that RK had come to her house with the info.

A priest is entering ACD's house, and he is stopped by the sentry on duty, who checks his bag and lets him in. He goes in and Priya is there, dutifully wheeling ACD around. The priest greets ACD, and says that it is by God's grace that he is well, and ACD gives a half smile (I think!), and says that it is due to the prayers of his mother, and at this point Priya interrupts, asks him to wait and takes ACD in the wheelchair like an aatukutti (after all, he did say Maa, maa in the ICU!) and deposits him in the bedroom, then returns to the living room. She asks the priest who asked him to come there (Boy, what rudeness!) and he says he was asked to come by ACD's father to discuss about his mother's thithi (has it been a year already? My, how time flies when ACD is in the ICU) and she tells him rudely to come back later. Then she goes in and tells ACD that the priest has a big vaai (how about hers?) and so she has asked him to come later, and ACD mutely nods. Then she goes to the other room, opens the fridge, and takes a few big gulps of water and says that she almost got blood pressure dealing with this situation. Isn't it high time they told the man>?

Manisha is still in the car and the phone rings again. This time it is the doctor, and she realizes that she has forgotten all about the appointment, so she says she can come after one hour (who cares about going to work, anyway?).

A white car comes and stops outside Charu's house and Manisha gets down - does the car belong to Charu? It looks like one of hers. Charu is talking to someone about a new business deal, and she says this process takes six years, and one should either enter into a business that one already knows, or learn all about it after entering into it, and since neither situation is applicable here, she advises the caller to drop the idea. She sees M at this point, and M says that just as she is so strict about her business, she expected Charu to be the same about personal affairs also. She claims that Charu has done dhrogam to her, and asks her why she did such a thing and why did she tell RK? Charu tells her that it is a family affair. M says that she considered C to be her mother and confided in her, so C says that she is definitely her daughter, and here comes some convoluted logic - C's daughter Abirami used to be married to Madhan, so madhan is her marumagan. Karthik is Madhan's brother, and Manisha is Karthik's wife (appidiya, kalyanam eppo nadandhadhu?), even if this is not recognized by the world at large. This makes K Charu's marumagan by default and then Manisha is Charu's daughter. Don't ask me to explain, my head is still reeling with all this logic. If so, my SIL becomes my sister and her son - in -law becomes my son in law, and his sister becomes my daughter and her husband becomes my son in law too? Oh well, only CR knows his logic. Anyway, finally, Manisha is appeased and she wants to know if Shanthi madam will be okay. Charu assures her that "we are all one family and RK is the head and it would have been awful if he had found out through the police or through some other means, and since he is the head, he knows how to solve all these problems without affecting Shanthi", and so on and so on. FREEZE

Update for Tuesday, August 5, 2008:

Not much is achieved in this episode.

Opening scene: Rocky is being dressed by Kalima, and he asks why he needs to be dressed up so much, since it is just a visit to the doctor (good question!). Kalima tells him to hush, finishes combing his hair and takes him downstairs. RK comes in and calls to Rocky, and then spends the next few minutes looking at him lovingly and getting emotional (this whole episode has RK melting with affection all the time). Manisha enters and RK gives her also this strange look. Rocky addresses her as Aunty and asks if his amma is not coming. RK and Kalima both look at Manisha and she tells Rocky that his amma will come directly to the hospital. Then she takes him to kumbidufy patti, and they go and stand in front of Raji's portrait. RK comes there, and applies vibhuti to Rocky and tells him that he always has patti's blessings. Nallan comes and joins this quartet, and has this inquisitive expression on his face. Manisha turns to leave with Rocky, and RK calls her back and says that he too will accompany them to the doctor.

JC is talking to someone on the phone and AC Shankar walks in. JC asks him if he has the FIR on kanakku, and he says yes, and hands over the file to JC. JC looks at it, and ACS explains that it has been filed under Section 302 or some such number, and it states that he was a witness to the Othakkai murder. He says that SKPD can be implicated in a number of other cases, and JC asks him to do that also. (I am not quite sure of the dialog here, if there are any mistakes, please feel free to correct me.)

RK, Rocky and Manisha are traveling in the car to the hospital. RK has flashbacks of Charu, the busybody, telling him that Rocky is Karthik's son, and he again gets emotional and strokes Rocky on his cheek. They arrive at the hospital and the doctor says that Rocky is progressing very well. He asks RK and Manisha to wait outside while he does some tests on Rocky.

RK and Manisha are waiting outside and suddenly M falls at RK's feet and asks for forgiveness. She explains that she should have told him earlier that Rocky is his grandson, and she had told Charu this, and she was actually angry that Charu had leaked it out (what else did she expect? A secret is a secret only as long as you don't go around blabbering it out to all and sundry) and she now understands why Charu told RK. She goes on to say that Karthik is a very nice guy, it was not his fault, she was the one who first expressed her love for him, and then it became mutual, and then when she became pregnant, she couldn't tell him because he was telling her how he was going to sacrifice his love and marry Shanthi. She adds that Shanthi is a very fine person, and she doesn't want to create problems in their life, and she was going to keep this a secret forever. She brought the baby to hand him over to Karthik and that was when she met Anitha. Even then, if it hadn't been for Rocky getting sick, she wouldn't have come to Chennai, because she doesn't want to create problems in RK's family. She says that once Rocky is cured, she plans to leave, and then adds, she will leave with Rocky. Just then the nurse summons them inside, and the doctor says that Rocky is now cured and they can continue his treatment anywhere they take him.

RK, Manisha and Rocky return to the ashram and Shanthi is waiting there with Indu. Once again, RK is moved as he gazes at the two children. Indu and Rocky run off to play and Manisha makes a move to leave, but Shanthi asks her to stay. She says that she wanted to talk about Manisha to RK, and both M and RK are wondering what is coming. She says that she knows that Rocky is .... (and everyone is waiting with bated breath...) M's son. Appadaa, M and RK are visibly relieved. Suddenly RK moves away from there and they are wondering where he has gone.

RK is standing in front of Raji's portrait and talking to her/it, saying he doesn't know how to resolve this situation. He talks of how glad he is that she is not there to see all this happen, and then he says that he cannot let Manisha move away. Now something strange happens - he comes out of that room, and he is shown as being upstairs. Either he ran upstairs, or else they moved the portrait upstairs while RK and Manisha and Rocky were at the doctor's office, and why run upstairs unless he is training for a marathon? He comes down the stairs (I guess that looks more dramatic to CR, never mind the obvious discrepancy re. the portrait's placement) and says to himself that he must find a way to prevent M from going away. FREEZE This time the freeze shot has RK, Karthik, Shanthi and Manisha in it.

Bon, say goodbye to all those dreams of romance between ACD and Priya.

I just realized this morning that I had forgotten the last scene where Manisha is talking to her mother about seeing RK and his accompanying them to the hospital and their talk there. She says that it looks like he is going to make some kind of a decision about her and Rocky and Karthik, and before he does so, she must make her decision, so she has decided that they must move. Her mother asks about Rocky's treatment, and M says that it can be done in Delhi. Then her mother wants to know if Rocky will go with them, and she says that she will persuade him somehow. FREEZE

Update for Friday, August 8, 2008:

Nothing is achieved.

Opening scene: Recap of yesterday's scene where ACD sees his mother's photo in the puja room. Priya turns around, sees him, and comes out of the room with tears in her eyes. ACD is upset, and I am not sure if he was thinking or the words actually came out of his mouth here, but I think it was in his head - I thought you had gone somewhere. Right then, his father enters, sees this scene and correctly judges what has happened, and explains everything surrounding her death to ACD and the reason they didn't tell him about it (all dialogs were muted, so I am guessing here).

Karthik comes home and calls Shanthi, asking her to get him coffee with lots of sugar. She wants to know what the good news is and he tells her about SKPD's assets being sealed by the court and tells her that Abirami who drove them out of their house, is now in nadu theru. Shanthi says that RK has always been partial to Abi and even now, they need to make sure that he does not do anything foolish to help Abi out, since he is also alone and vulnerable. She also says that Karthik should go and talk to RK now and bring them all back together. Karthik agrees.

Seenu is pacing outside his car, waiting for someone. Vishnu drives up, and asks him what is happening. He tells Seenu all about SKPD's assets being sealed and the fact that Abi is now missing. Vishnu tells him that he should think calmly, and he says that he cannot think calmly when his sambandhiamma is missing. Just then, he gets a call on his cell phone and it is Abi on the line. She says that she is staying in some hotel, and he says that he will meet her immediately. He asks her for her room number and she says that she will meet him in the lobby (smart woman!)

Abi in the hotel, still in the same sari in which she was shown leaving SKPD's house, and Seenu arrives to meet her in the lobby. He tells her that she should not be staying in a hotel and he could arrange for her to be put up in his guest house. She declines the offer, and then Seenu comes up with his brainwave. He tells her that all this is the work of Charu, and she has to be strong like she used to be. She thinks about this, and agrees that she has become soft now (hah!) and says that she is going to change now and she will do something (Charu beware! The lion's cub is on the rampage).

SKPD in jail. AP comes in, and dismisses the attendant who is with SKPD. He taunts SKPD, saying that you thought you were so smart, and could get out of jail, now you are in jail and all your assets have been confiscated. Are you still feeling like a dada? SKPD is furious. FREEZE ....
