Two Mumbai girls feature among the eight finalists of the Star Plus dance contest Kaboom — Duniya Hila De.
Collegians Swapnali Kadam and Shyama Balan battle out with the six outstation contestants for the Rs 50 lakh prize.
Swapnali Kadam
Says Parel resident, Kadam, "I have always loved dancing; I have been learning kathak since the age of eight." This HSC (Arts) student of Khalsa College harbours aspirations of being a choreographer. "My favourite dancer is Pandit Birju Maharaj, and my favourite dance track is Kaahe Chede Mohe, from Devdas," adds Kadam.
Shyama Balan
A resident of Dombivili, Balan is an HSC (Commerce) student, from Kelkar College. "I learn dance at the Pacemakers Institute in Dombivili," says Balan, who has earlier featured in Boogie Woogie (Sony) and Kuch Masti Kuch Dhoom (Star Plus).
Her favourite dancer is Prabhu Deva ("and now he is judging me!") and her top dance track is Shankar Mahadevan's Breathless to which she can dance non-stop.
Outstation contestants
The other contestants include: Anee Lama (Hyderabad), Alisha Singh, (Jharkhand) Jayant Prem (New Delhi), Neha Marda, Prasanjit Biswas, Pompi Mondal (all Kolkata).
Kaboom, anchored by Ravi Behl and Naved Jaffrey airs on Saturdays at 8 pm. It has Prabhu Deva and Jaaved Jaffrey as judges. The finalists have been trained by choreographer Ahmed Khan. Every week, one finalist bows out. The finale is on December 17.

Kaboom finalist in SaharaOne show
Contestant Neha Marda, who has made it to the final rounds of Kaboom, will be seen in the SaharaOne soap, Saat Rahega Always. This daily will air from November 28, at 7.30 pm. It has Marda playing the main protagonist called Peehu.
