Didn't see any except for 1 or 2. My opinon of the show...
Guys were horrible except for Sharib's good performance and Hem's average. Fans of Vinit don't pounce on me, but his performance was rigged as you know, more about it later.
1st to sing was Hem, not up to mark, said gala kharaab. AS defended saying that once in a while it is ok, quoted a Hindi proverb. Came to know from AS that there was a request to allow Swananda a second chance during 18th Nov episode and was refused. AS magnanimously decalred that he is not asking for the same for Hem. Hem graciously accpeted that his singing was not good, accha bachcha hai, bahut honest, no nakhrebaazi.
2nd was Himani - nothing great, average singing, got average marks on stupid mentometer. BTW, AS said in another context that mentometer does not matter. Sort of proved by ID also, he was giving high marks to almost everybody even though the performances were below average.
3rd was Rajeev - again debate on the scale chosen. He had again a sung a song with low scales. Nothing to say about the performance, AS again defended him.
Next gharana was Dum ho. Sharib's singing of "yamma yamma" is praiseworhty. Top performance among guys, but nothing compared to the Mumbai mulgi. But way ahead of other guys.
Was followed by Yalgars'. 1st to sing was Mme Twinkle. Boasted during ad break that she is going to sing a great Arabic song composed by RDB. But there was hardly any Arabic in the song (correct me if I am wrong). Bad diction, bad singing but better than last few shows. Average performance I should say, even though she has reduced a lot on the dancing aspect. I think she is no more bothered about the public voting, feels she is not obliged to public for voting her in last time. Arrogant, head-strong girl.
Debo sang some song, I don't remember, was very pathetic. Again the cause was attributed to Kharaab gala. ID refused to beleive, asked him to return his chumma. very rude, Debo just shut his mouth. ID is disgusting. He has already sent Vineeta back with his crude and cutting remarks. I don't think he qualifies as a mentor.
Nihira, the first and perhaps the last explosive performance. Guys and gals who said Nihira is not versatile, swallow your words now. Listen to her singing hare rama hare krishna. You guys should take back your comments, no arguments about it. She was absolutely fantastic. 10 on MM from all mentors, was adviced by ID not to take the perfect 10s into her head too much. Perfect 10s twice in a row, way to go Nihira!!
Rock gharana. Vinit sang ahaha aaja. I was just thinking that he sang well (I am not trained at all, have good ear for good music), then AS said the track has been tampered with to suit his voice and that is how Vinit sounded better. Felt like slapping him and the mentor both. Public can be so easily fooled by such antics, thanks to AS they will not be now. Himesh had no choice but to admit the farce. Vinit had the audacity to defend himself, tried to stop AS twice, was asked by AS to shut up. AS anyhow rated him 10/10 and said MM does not matter and public knows the best. He also said he could have demonstrated it if live musicians were there. Somebody's comment about the use of track is true after all. MrsPetloverUS can you please explain this farce in detail once you have watched the show?
Ujjaini was the surprise package. She was a lot better than many previous episodes. Himesh said she has gotten close to the tonal quality that she had when she rendered the song from Black. I had not watched that particular episode, I was amazed when it was repeated, could not beleive that it is the same girl. That I think is one of the best performances of SRGMPC05.
Paresh was below average, flat voice, no emotions whatsoever. Himesh made the right comments, said he gets votes because of his cute face, another cutting remark. Paresh took it well, well-behaved guy. His reason for requesting for votes was very lame once again. If he is voted in, it seems he does not have to wear phati jeans like he was wearing on that day. Probably he was jesting, but the joke fell totally flat.
IMHO, summary of todays performance:
Nihira - the biggest explosive
Sharib - explosed good and loud
Ujjaini - a chota phataka
Hem - the smallest of all phatakas
Rest - tussss.... no effect at all
Kunal Gaanjawaala made an appearance in the end and sang. Learn from him Paresh! It seems that this was the song that he sang for the first time he appeared on SRGM years back. Cannot compare with Rafi saahab, but commendable and loaded with power and energy.
