 Shahid Kapoor is on a roll with two back-to-back hits — Vivah and Jab We Met."I guess God has been kind to me. Over four-and-a-half years in Bollywood, I have realised my strengths and weaknesses more than anything else," says the modest actor. Right now, he is awaiting the release of his new film in which he is destined to date with Vidya Balan. Given all the rumours about his reported relationship with Vidya, what does he have to say about it? "Well, Vidya and me are just good friends. We definitely get along very well and that's about it," says Shahid. As an afterthought, he adds, "She's a very good actor. As for rumours floating around, well, as an actor I am used to all this. You tend to get written about." Talking about his next release with Vidya Balan, Shahid tells us about an interesting incident that helped break the ice between him and Vidya. "It was our first day at the shoot and everybody was kind of nervous as to how we will get along. Vidya did it in a sweet way — she walked up to me in front of everybody and said, 'Can I have your autograph?' Everybody started laughing and we just clicked from there," he says. The actor says that the atmosphere on the sets was thoroughly enjoyable. "Aziz uncle is a great director. Initially, I had thought that it would be difficult to adjust with him because of the age difference between us. But, he was easy going and there was no pressure on the sets," he recalls. Shahid has Yash Raj films' next, Vishal Bharadwaj's next, and his dad Pankaj Kapur's directorial venture to look forward to. "I am excited about my dad's venture," he says. He considers Jab We Met as one of the best films in the recent past. "I think it is one of the most incredible films, and Imtiaz did a great job," he affirms. Of the other films he has liked recently are Taare Zameen Par, Chak De! India and Rang De Basanti . "I would love to work with the directors of these films — Aamir Khan, Shimit Amin and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra," says Shahid. What is that one character he would like to play given a choice? "I would love to play the protagonist of Lawrence of Arabia. I think it's a great character and a magnificent film," he avers. And, quiz Shahid about his new hard-to-miss hairstyle, and he says, "I am growing it a bit. My hairstylist Dilshad says that it would suit me.
