We've had so much written about YuRa in this forum, especially with regards to fan fiction. We've dealt with moments before marriage, moments after marriage and everything in between. But how about the moment just after marriage the 'suhag raat'?
So with that in mind I wrote a little piece. I have tried to show the feelings that a couple may experience on that night, but also tried to write in the context of the quite complicated and unique YuRa love story that bought these two together.
And yes I have kept it clean!!! (it is after all a family show)
For her behaviour and her character, Rani was an innocent. She was pure and chaste. But the combination of his unrestrained love, her modesty and her nearness to him, made the present situation unbearable for Yudi. He was torn between wanting to protect her and her innocence, and wanting to show her the depths of his feelings by taking her in his arms and truly being at one with her.
Yudi had entered the room and found Rani, standing by the window, with her back to the door. She turned when she heard the door. Their eyes met, but she was unable to hold his gaze and turned back to the open window. Yudi took of his pagri and sherwani and laid them on the bed. He walked towards Rani and stood just behind her. Rani aware of the nearness of him felt herself quiver with anticipation. She waited for him to speak. But he offered no words. Instead he held out his hand and there in his palm Rani saw a black box tied with a pink ribbon.
Rani turned her head slightly and looked up at him. She raised an eyebrow in question. yudi still said nothing. Rani looked back at the box. She was unsure of what he expected her to do. Yudi sensing her hesitancy, untied the ribbons and the box fell open to reveal a bracelet. It was not gold, and unlike anything Rani had seen before. It appeared to be silver, but unlike any silver she knew. It was almost luminescent. Where the ends met, they were two stones brilliantly dazzling white. Rani, though she had never seen one, was sensible enough to know they must be diamonds.
Yudi took the bracelet from the box and taking one of Rani's hands placed it around her wrist. He felt the slight tremble in her hands, and let his fingers gently clasp her fingertips.
Rani felt she ought to say something. But what? Thank you seemed somewhat redundant in the face of, what even she knew was, a very expensive gift. She could not bring herself to look at him. With a voice trembling, she knew not whether with fear or passion, she spoke.
"kunvarji do not think I am ungrateful, but I fear I do not do justice to such an expensive gift. I really..." Yudi put his fingers to her lips and silenced her.
"It is my gift which does not do justice to you. I know that If I were to gather the most expensive and beautiful jewellery in the world and present them to you, they would fall short"
She touched the bracelet, fingering the diamonds at its clasp and Yudi placed his hand on top of hers. She turned away back to the window, and as she did so, the position of his arms around her ensured that she was now in his embrace. Yudi made no attempt to withdraw his hold. He was now so close to her that his face was just above her head. He was tempted to kiss the back of her head, but was afraid of rushing her.
The leap from being the prince's secret love to his bride, was so sudden that Rani was quite unsure of herself or her situation at that precise moment in time. undoubtedly, this was what she had often imagined, but always telling herself it was an impossibility. Now, that the impossible had happened, she was left feeling confused, nervous and fearful.
Yudi unwrapped his arms from around her and took her by the hand. He lead her to the bed and asked her to sit. Rani almost dutifully sat down. Yudi took his place by her side. He knew she must be feeling out of sorts.
"Rani" at the mention of her name Rani looked up at him. It was the first time he had called her by her name, and Rani liked the way it sounded on his lips.
"ji"
"I know this is somewhat difficult, it is for me too. but you must know. you are not alone in this. I am here. Whatever you are feeling, perhaps I am feeling the same. I know you have coped with a lot since you have come to the mahal. You have endured much for me too. I wish I could undo all the hurt, and the pain. But I promise for every tear of pain you shed, I'll try and give you a thousand tears of joy. For every hurt your heart suffered, I'll try and fill it with a thousand joys and love, and for every unhappy moment you felt, I'll try and give a thousand happy moments"
Rani listened to his promises and her eyes filled with tears. And when the happy pain of his words were too much to bear her tears flowed down her cheeks. Yudi got off the bed and knelt in front of her. He took her face between his hands and wiped away her tears. At this gesture, Rani was so overcome with love for this man, who had turned his back on everything and everyone he had held dear. He had struggled to prove his love for her to his family, and fought to have her accpeted. In that instant Rani knew that come what may, she would never break his faith in her.
She threw herself into his arms and held tightly on to him. Yudi felt his heart beating, so loudly, it felt as if it would come out through his chest. He returned her hold with just as much firmness and in that moment Yudi knew come what may he would never break her faith in him.
Whachya think?
