EPISODE 8 - "THE NAME IN THE NEWSPAPER"

SCENE 1 - CHAWLA HOUSE - NIGHT

Kasturi is still holding the newspaper clipping.

Her face is tense.

The photograph of Vikram Malhotra and the mysterious young woman is in front of her.

She walks into the living room.

JP is sitting with BAUJI.

KAUSHALYA is arranging clothes.

KASTURI

Papa...

JP looks up.

JP

What happened?

Kasturi places the newspaper clipping on the table.

The moment JP sees it, his expression changes.

Kaushalya notices.

KASTURI

You know him.

Silence.

JP slowly picks up the photograph.

JP

Where did you get this?

KASTURI

Someone sent it to me.

Kaushalya looks worried.

KAUSHALYA

Who?

Kasturi hesitates.

Everyone looks at her.

Kasturi tells them about the phone call.

Kaushalya immediately becomes worried.

JP stands.

From now on, you stay away from this matter.

JP

No, Kasturi.

His voice is firm.

JP

I don't want you anywhere near Vikram Malhotra.

Robbie is waiting for Kasturi.

She walks in.

ROBBIE

You're late.

KASTURI

I had something to deal with.

He notices her expression.

ROBBIE

What happened?

She doesn't answer.

ROBBIE

Kasturi?

She finally looks at him.

KASTURI

My father knows Vikram.

Robbie is stunned.

ROBBIE

What?

KASTURI

He used to work for your father.

Robbie processes this.

ROBBIE

My father never mentioned him.

KASTURI

My father won't tell me everything either.

Robbie looks at her.

ROBBIE

Then we'll find out together.

Kasturi smiles faintly.

Robbie looks surprised.

ROBBIE

Your father's employee file still exists.

Kasturi leans closer.

Their faces are suddenly very close.

Both realize it.

They step back slightly.

KASTURI

Sorry.

ROBBIE

Why are you apologizing?

She smiles.

KASTURI

I don't know.

Robbie smiles back.

ROBBIE

Me neither.

SCENE 7 - RAUNAK ENTERS

Raunak walks in.

He sees Robbie and Kasturi standing unusually close.

RAUNAK

Should I come back later?

Kasturi immediately looks away.

KASTURI

No!

Robbie laughs.

ROBBIE

What do you want?

Raunak holds up a file.

RAUNAK

I found something about Vikram.

The mood becomes serious again.

SCENE 8 - THE OLD FILE

Raunak places the file on the desk.

RAUNAK

Vikram wasn't just connected to our fathers.

He looks at Kasturi.

RAUNAK

He knew your father too.

Kasturi is shocked.

KASTURI

How?

Raunak opens the file.

Inside is a handwritten note.

"JP CHAWLA - TRUSTED EMPLOYEE."

Robbie looks at Kasturi.

Your father was trusted by my father.

Kasturi looks confused.

Purshotam freezes.

ROBBIE

Kasturi.

Purshotam looks away.

ROBBIE

Why didn't you ever tell me?

PURSHOTAM

Because it has nothing to do with you.

ROBBIE

Everything that affects Kasturi affects me.

Purshotam looks at his son.

He realizes Robbie's feelings are becoming serious.

PURSHOTAM

Robbie...

ROBBIE

What happened to JP?

Purshotam doesn't answer.

SCENE 10 - KASTURI'S ROOM

Kasturi looks through an old family trunk.

She finds an old photograph of JP in his younger days.

Behind it is an old employee ID.

SABHARWAL GROUP - JP CHAWLA

Kasturi smiles.

Then she notices something written on the back.

"17 AUGUST - DON'T TRUST VIKRAM."

Her smile disappears.

SCENE 11 - KAUSHALYA REVEALS SOMETHING

Kasturi goes to her mother.

KASTURI

Mom, you knew?

Kaushalya looks at the photograph.

KAUSHALYA

Your father told me years ago.

KASTURI

What happened?

Kaushalya hesitates.

KAUSHALYA

Your father believed Vikram was involved in something dangerous.

KASTURI

Then why didn't he tell anyone?

KAUSHALYA

Because he was afraid.

SCENE 12 - ROBBIE AND KASTURI - TERRACE

Kasturi stands alone.

Robbie joins her.

ROBBIE

KASTURI

ROBBIE

He won't tell me anything.

Kasturi looks disappointed.

Neither will mine.

Robbie stands beside her.

ROBBIE

Then we'll wait.

KASTURI

For what?

ROBBIE

For the truth.

She looks at him.

KASTURI

Why are you doing all this?

Robbie smiles.

ROBBIE

Because you're not alone.

Kasturi's eyes soften.

A gentle silence.

Robbie notices a strand of hair falling across her face.

He slowly moves it away from her eyes.

Kasturi freezes.

Their eyes meet.

Neither says anything.

Then-

RAUNAK (O.S.)

Robbie!

They immediately step apart.

Robbie closes his eyes in frustration.

Kasturi laughs softly.

Raunak pulls Robbie aside.

RAUNAK

You really care about her.

Robbie looks at him.

ROBBIE

She's important to me.

Raunak smiles.

Then his expression becomes serious.

But be careful.

ROBBIE

Why?

RAUNAK

Because Vikram knows about her family.

Robbie nods.

ROBBIE

That's exactly why I won't let him hurt her.

SCENE 14 - VIKRAM'S PLAN

Vikram sits in his office.

An old file is open.

The first page reads:

Vikram smiles.

VIKRAM

So the daughter finally knows about her father's past.

His phone rings.

VOICE

Should we proceed?

Vikram looks at Kasturi's photograph.

He finds the old agreement.

This time he notices a second signature.

Suddenly, he hears footsteps.

Purshotam stands behind him.

PURSHOTAM

You were never supposed to see that.

Robbie turns.

ROBBIE

Dad...

He holds up the agreement.

ROBBIE

Why did Kasturi's father sign this?

Purshotam's face reveals fear.

CUT TO:

Kasturi sleeping peacefully at home.

Her phone lights up.

UNKNOWN MESSAGE:

«"YOUR FATHER DIDN'T LEAVE THE SABHARWALS. HE WAS FORCED OUT."»

Kasturi wakes up.

Her eyes widen.

CUT TO BLACK.

NEXT EPISODE - "THE MAN WHO LEFT"

Robbie discovers that JP's departure from the Sabharwal Group was not voluntary. Kasturi begins questioning her father's past, while Purshotam fears the truth will destroy more than one family. Meanwhile, Vikram makes his first direct move against Robbie and Kasturi.

EPISODE 9 — “THE MAN BEHIND THE PAST”

SCENE 1 — SABHARWAL MANSION — NIGHT

Purshotam stands silently in his study.

Robbie's words echo in his mind.

ROBBIE:

“Why did Kasturi's father sign that agreement?”

Purshotam looks toward the locked cabinet.

Devika enters.

DEVIKA:

“You knew this day would come.”

Purshotam doesn't answer.

DEVIKA:

“Robbie is asking questions now. And this time, you can't simply tell him to stay away.”

Purshotam finally looks at her.

PURSHOTAM:

“I was trying to protect him.”

DEVIKA:

“From the truth?”

A pause.

PURSHOTAM:

“From that truth can hurt this family.”

SCENE 2 — CHAWLA HOUSE — NIGHT

Kasturi sits beside JP.

The old employee ID and agreement papers are on the table.

KASTURI:

“Papa... why didn't you ever tell me that you worked for Mr. Sabharwal?”

JP looks uncomfortable.

JP:

“Because that chapter of my life was over.”

KASTURI:

“But someone from that chapter has come back.”

JP looks at her seriously.

JP:

“Vikram Malhotra is not someone you should try to understand, Kasturi.”

KASTURI:

“Then help me understand why he's interested in our family.”

JP remains silent.

Robbie is looking at the old agreement.

Raunak enters.

RAUNAK:

“Still awake?”

ROBBIE:

“I found JP's signature.”

Raunak becomes serious.

Robbie nods.

ROBBIE:

“My father knew him. He worked for him. And somehow his name is connected to that agreement.”

RAUNAK:

“Then we need to know what happened.”

Robbie closes the file.

ROBBIE:

“We will.”

Raunak studies him.

“You're doing this for the truth... or for Kasturi?”

Robbie gives him a look.

“Both.”

Kasturi enters the office.

“I remember some things.”

Kasturi smiles.

KASTURI:

“That's becoming your favorite line.”

“Maybe because it's true.”

A small silence.

Their eyes meet.

Raunak walks past them.

Kasturi immediately looks away.

KASTURI:

“No!”

KASTURI:

“And my father's employee record was closed shortly after this date.”

Raunak becomes tense.

“So JP didn't simply leave.”

Robbie looks at Kasturi.

ROBBIE:

“He was forced out.”

Kasturi's expression changes.

Kasturi freezes.

“Who are you?”

“You already know my name.”

“Vikram?”

A pause.

VIKRAM:

“Good.”

The call ends.

Kasturi immediately calls Robbie.

Robbie rushes into the conference room.

“What happened?”

“He called me.”

Robbie becomes serious.

“Vikram?”

She nods.

Robbie looks around.

ROBBIE:

“Did he say where he was?”

“No.”

Robbie takes her hand instinctively.

ROBBIE:

“Don't worry.”

Kasturi looks down at their hands.

Robbie realizes and slowly lets go.

But neither of them says anything.

Vikram sits in a dimly lit office.

On the table are three files:

DUSHANT SINGHANIA

JP CHAWLA

He opens JP's file.

A photograph falls out.

Young JP stands beside Purshotam.

Vikram looks at the photograph.

VIKRAM:

“You thought you could bury the past.”

He smiles.

VIKRAM:

“But your children are digging it back up.”

Robbie tells Raunak about the call.

“So he's finally contacted Kasturi directly.”

ROBBIE:

“Yes.”

“I know.”

RAUNAK:

“No. You don't.”

Robbie looks at him.

RAUNAK:

“This isn't just business anymore.”

Robbie understands.

ROBBIE:

“Because of Kasturi?”

Raunak nods.

RAUNAK:

“Exactly.”

SCENE 13 — TERRACE — NIGHT

Kasturi stands alone on the terrace.

Robbie joins her.

ROBBIE:

“Can't sleep?”

KASTURI:

“Not tonight.”

He stands beside her.

KASTURI:

“Do you ever feel like your entire life can change because of one thing you didn't know?”

ROBBIE:

“Maybe.”

KASTURI:

“Are you afraid?”

Robbie looks at her.

ROBBIE:

“For you? Yes.”

She turns toward him.

KASTURI:

“Why?”

A pause.

ROBBIE:

“Because somewhere along the way... you stopped being just my colleague.”

Kasturi is speechless.

Robbie doesn't push her for an answer.

ROBBIE:

“Good night, Kasturi.”

He walks away.

Kasturi watches him leave, quietly emotional.

SCENE 14 — THE FIRST FACE-TO-FACE MEETING

The next morning.

Robbie arrives at an old warehouse after receiving an anonymous message.

He enters.

A man stands with his back toward him.

ROBBIE:

“Vikram Malhotra?”

The man slowly turns.

It is VIKRAM.

For the first time, Robbie and Vikram stand face-to-face.

Vikram studies him.

VIKRAM:

“So you're Robbie Sabharwal.”

ROBBIE:

“And you're the man who's been threatening my family.”

Vikram smiles faintly.

VIKRAM:

“Threatening?”

He steps closer.

VIKRAM:

“No, Robbie. I'm reminding your family of something they desperately want to forget.”

Robbie's expression hardens.

ROBBIE:

“What happened on 17 August?”

Vikram looks directly into his eyes.

VIKRAM:

“Ask your father.”

SCENE 15 — CLIFFHANGER

Vikram walks past Robbie.

Before leaving, he stops.

VIKRAM:

“And one more thing.”

Robbie turns.

VIKRAM:

“Your father's secret isn't the only secret.”

“What does that mean?”

Vikram smiles.

VIKRAM:

“Ask JP Chawla what he saw that night.”

Robbie freezes.

VIKRAM:

“Because your future with Kasturi may depend on the answer.”

Vikram walks away.

Robbie stands stunned.

CUT TO:

Kasturi at home, opening an old trunk.

She finds a sealed envelope.

On it is written:

“FOR KASTURI — ONLY IF THE TRUTH RETURNS.”

Her hands tremble.

She opens it.

CUT TO BLACK.

Kasturi discovers a secret letter written by her father.

Robbie begins questioning Purshotam.
