That is exactly the tragedy of it — so much damage grew out of something that should never have been allowed to become bigger than the truth itself. And now even when they do speak, there is so much history sitting between every sentence.

I agree that what they need eventually is not simply “going back.” Whatever happens between them has to be something new, because the old version of their relationship cannot just be restarted as though five years never happened. ❤️

Maan absolutely could say more. He knows that. But part of his problem now is that he is so frightened of once again deciding what Geet should hear, when she should hear it, and what she should do with it that he has overcorrected into silence. Which, of course, creates an entirely different problem.

And yes… the jealousy is very much alive 👀

I loved writing those few ordinary minutes between them because underneath all that distance, there are still little instincts that haven’t forgotten each other. But no, this cannot continue forever. Something eventually has to break the stalemate. 😏

But yes, “sorry” is only the beginning. Geet does not just need regret from him; there are still things she deserves to understand. The difficult part is that explanation can very easily become justification, and Maan knows he has already spent enough of their history deciding what version of events other people should receive.

And now they are stuck under the same roof for several days… so avoiding every real conversation is going to become increasingly difficult. 👀

As for Neil influencing Geet’s opinion of Maan — very interesting question. I am not answering that one yet. 😇

Geet's silence has become much stronger over the years. She is not the woman who will immediately ask Maan for explanations anymore, and Maan's old certainty has changed into this almost excessive restraint. So both of them can recognise that the other has changed without yet understanding how much or what that change means.

I’m glad the ritual scene worked for you too.Geet stepping aside was not about Tara or resentment toward the family. It was about Geet knowing exactly what that blessing represented and not being able to stand there pretending her own marriage had given her something she could confidently pass forward.Maan understanding why she stepped away hurt him more than if she had simply refused.

And yes 😂 Neil’s closeness with Geet is absolutely getting under Maan's skin. The important question is whether Maan lets jealousy turn him back into the man who thinks wanting something gives him the right to interfere. That is where his growth is going to be tested.

The ritual hit him because she wasn’t being dramatic or bitter. She simply could not honestly stand there and bless someone with the kind of marital happiness she herself never got to experience. And yes, his silence over the years became part of that wound too. ❤️

Yes, and that balance was very important to me. Geet has genuinely built a life. She is capable, independent, successful, and she did not remain frozen in the past.

But moving forward does not mean every old hurt disappears. Sometimes it only shows up when something ordinary reminds you of what you never had — a small caring gesture, an easy partnership, someone being considered without having to ask.

She has grown. She has also carried things with her. Both can be true at the same time. ❤️

But yes, you’ve picked up on something important: Neil often interprets situations through his own emotional logic, and once he believes he understands what something means, he can start building an entire version of events around that interpretation.

I also wanted the distance to feel real — Singapore, New York, years passing, both of them building separate lives while still hearing fragments about each other through the family. That is not the same as knowing someone anymore.

And yes, Naina moving on and the family finally stopping treating Maan and Geet like something fragile that everyone must manage was important too.

Daadi’s health is really what finally pulls both of them back into the same physical space again… and from there, avoiding each other becomes much harder. ❤️

After five years, neither of them really knows how to behave around the other anymore. They are not strangers, but they also cannot simply fall back into the people they were. So they notice everything instead — the phone lighting up, the earplugs, habits, silences, how comfortable Geet now is in a life Maan knows almost nothing about.

And I really like what you said at the end: Maan knew the young Geet, while his family knows the woman she became. That gap is one of the biggest things he has to confront now. He has history with her, but they have years of present-day knowledge that he simply does not. ❤️

Now he has swung almost completely in the opposite direction — he is so careful not to impose himself that he often says nothing at all. And yes, that silence can create distance just as surely as arrogance once did.

I’m glad you noticed Geet observing him physically too 😂 because no matter how much history sits between them, attraction did not politely disappear just because life became complicated.

And Tara leaving the engagement decision completely with Geet mattered to me. Geet is still loved by the family, but nobody gets to decide what she should be comfortable participating in anymore. That choice has to remain hers.
