I'm out of this discussion now 👍

Won't reply anymore in this topic for my own mental peace. 😇

Also my previous post was about you asking me to go elsewhere when you keep writing essays.

I had written in another thread about the same subject that is also a subject in this one and suggested to you to read there too... was that a wrong move from my side? If yes, then please excuse.

Okay, then clearer words you may not have any difficulty to understand in the r i g h t sense: I condemn Islamic practices whenever they go against humanity and human rights which is the case with Islamist Terrorism / Jihadism, Honor Killings, Forced Conversions, Child Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Sectarian Violence, State-Sanctioned Executions...

Although - in my naive thinking about people understanding what humanity and human rights mean, I never made a detailed list... now, I do, because some people seem to need it.

However, my list of what I condemn of Islamic practises is not complete with me heavily criticising Unilateral divorce, Polygyny, Amputation, Stoning, Flogging, and Dhimmi status (= social and political restrictions on non-Muslim citizens).

If you wish more details, please tell me... I'm one of those species who inform themselves over things that deal with history... and definitely religions are part of human's history.

Now, everybody has an enumeration of Islam things (some very old ones, some newer ones)... but of course, I could elaborate on these practises although I vehemtly dislike them.

No, you did not... it wasn't a good verbalisation... as I looked at it from the viewpoint of the medieval situation it may come across as if they got killed by the own men... Better would have been something like: They did not see themselves as dying because of their community, but for the honor of their community to deny the enemy a psychological and physical victory.

(it's not easy with the writing, sometimes... it can be a dance on egg-shells)

aren't Gods supposed to be all knowing that would act in the interest of humanity regardless of the era they were "born" in ? Is it reform to marry a 6 year old but at the same time women choosing to end their life versus a lifetime of sexual slavery is a problem. Whose problem - The slavers or the victims ? In this age one would expect sympathy instead of taking the position to support the slavers. That is my issue. How can one support the slavers and not feel the women that ended their life as that was their only alternative of escape.

No, I never said this...

It may be in vain as you already got 'bombarded" with bisased and wrong information about me and may not trust my words anymore... at least your own writing relative to me makes me think that...*sigh* (just one more who would jump on the bandwagon, this time driven by a MID and formerly already banned member and always jumped by some other anti-Clochette members)...

In a thread in Current Affairs I wrote how Mohammad was looked at from a contemporary view (so as if I would have lived in the 7th century as an Arabic woman, e.g.) ... at that time, Mohammad definitely was acting as a reformer because he - among others - changed some misogynistic practices at that time into more pro-women ones. Even non-Islamic critical Western history books call him a reformer... That doesn't mean that I would laud everything he did, not at all...

Not once I "supported" the slavers... from what in my writings does you take this opinion??? My take on the historically named "Akbar the Great" (like the greek conqueror historically was named "Alexander the Great") was in no way excusing the atrocious things he did but mentioning that he changed his behaviour later (I just told what is historically a slightly positive fact about a Conqueror). Ashoka did the same... he was first known for his wars and then he turned around and changed into a positive historical person.

Okay... last try... "reformer" is a term associated with the person of Mohammed by historians and I align with this opinion... so it is n o t a bias but based on what this man did at his lifetime on the socio-political level. India also has famous people given the term "reformer" (e.g. Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar). Also, Mohammad is n o t a god but seen by Muslims as a prophet. In Islam , the god is Allah... and Muslims only pray to Allah as far as I know, not to Mohammad.I

As for Swara... no, I don't support her... would you read more of my posts in this thread you would know that I don't like her, and certainly not her focus on "vagina" when it comes to Jauhar. Writing about patriarchy doesn't make me a supporter of Swara.

Your underlined statement is absolutely correct. What is not correct, is what you wrote just before... I myself only criticized the way Bhansali presented Jauhar (which indeed supported a romaticized impression about Jauhar, imo).

What kind of historian you may be, I just ask myself - obviously not knowing much about what "reformer" meant... but okay... as I already wrote, it was a last try. You clearly made up your mind about me smiley16
