The very sight of her just triggers that instinct. Which brings about my old question- what is it that Jeet saw in Saumya that he wanted to be her knight in shining armor from day1? Was he physically attracted to her to some extent?

i think in the earlier episodes, he was intrigued by her when he saw her midnight whilst air drying his clothes and the canteen scene too...there were no back and forth monologues but he was interested...i think another moment was also when jeet and his team defeated the other team in the football game when she advised no towards physical violence but also to be strategic in the game and not be just brawns...so in a nutshell, i think the back and forth talks

I think it might have been a kinship of sorts. They were both wronged by people who were supposed to protect and care for them, i.e., his father and her uncle. And what happened to both of them, something far nefarious in Saumya's case, they both were helpless in a way. That silence in their childhoods manifested in opposite ways in their adulthood (which makes complete sense for their particular pasts). Jeet decided he will speak up whilst Saumya retreated to a shell no one understood the reason for. It might've been that helplessness that might've pulled Jeet to Saumya. Their first interaction is literally Saumya straight up lying to him and then promptly retreating into her shell. That might have been very telling for Jeet as to her wanting to be brave but just not being able to gather the courage for it.

Also, their personalities kind of helped pave the way for their relationship. Jeet, who always spoke up, always goes quiet when Saumya tells him to, making him realize that not every fight is his to fight. Whereas Saumya, who remained quiet, now speaks up, despite the cracks in her voice when he reminds her what's at stake. They provide the other with something they lack or need more courage for.

this was the core part that i think pulled him closer to her or at least made him figure that she was skittish but didn't come to full conclusion till he asked her in the park scene and the exact pattern was picked up when he saw roop do the same to pihu..

Hmm so interested why? Im still confused what pulled him in the most? Did he just have that savior complex or was there something in Saumya that made him go to such extreme lengths for her happiness?

As an aside- writers are a little confused about showcasing their burgeoning feelings. During the Mata ki Chowki, it was clearly shown Soumu was crushing on Jeet. She went to dress up only when he returned, she wondered if she's indeed looking that beautiful and what his reaction will be and then the entire food bit where she kept staring at him and didn't want to let him go out of her sight. Very obvious crush. I'm not even getting into her ogling at his bare chested body every chance she gets.

My gripe is- for someone who felt what she felt- it was too easy for her to be nonchalant regarding her entire rishta bit. I know she's doing it for daddy dearest but kuch to inner conflict dikhaye to audience. Aise khi khi khi kar ke khush hui when the guys family said yes. Matlab kuch bhi

I like this explanation a lot. 2 broken souls in different ways. But even with whatever kinship he saw in her- she extreme lengths he went for her were fitoor indeed. She was a mere stranger in some ways but this guy went to such crazy lengths for her.
And I must say, Saumya did equally daring things in her own right for him

He's observant. He's had to be because if his relationship with Sanjeev Saxena and all the allusions to his past are any indicators then he witnessed a possibly happy environment turn into rubble. Which, as a kid, might've been so jarring and disheartening. It seems like he learned, very early on, that he needed to be on the lookout for signs.

Their relationship is very much 'chakke se chakke milke railgadi chalti hai' in a way that their initial curiosity for one another has literally multiplied into a genuine relationship that's unique to them. No one understands it, but they do and it only propagates their personalities while progressing their relationship further.
