Part 6 - A Mother's Promise
Nandini stood outside the Sheikh house with tears in her eyes. Maan waited for her near the gate.
Nandini looked at the sleeping Pari through the window.
Nandini (crying): "Forgive me, my child. A mother never leaves her daughter willingly. Today I am leaving you only because I know Mouli will love you more than I ever can while living with a broken heart."
Maan placed his hand on her shoulder.
Maan: "Are you sure about this?"
Nandini: "Yes. Kunal deserves his family back. Mouli deserves the happiness I unknowingly snatched from her. If Pari grows up with them, she will never feel the absence of a mother."
She kissed Pari on the forehead one last time.
She left behind a letter.
The next morning...
Pari woke up.
Pari: "Mama... Mama..."
She searched every room.
There was no sign of Nandini.
Mouli found an envelope on the table.
It read...
"For Kunal and Mouli."
Kunal opened it.
Nandini's letter
"Kunal,
By the time you read this, I will have left with Maan.
Please don't search for me.
Maan was my first love. Fate separated us. Today destiny has united us again.
I know the world will call me selfish.
Let them.
I want only one thing... Please don't separate Pari from yourself or Mouli.
Pari deserves a complete family.
I don't.
Mouli sacrificed everything for me. Today it is my turn to return her happiness.
Raise Pari as your own daughter.
If one day she hates me, I will accept that punishment.
—Nandini."
Pari began crying loudly.
Pari: "Papa... where is Mama? I want Mama..."
Kunal picked her up.
His own eyes were moist.
Kunal: "Your Mama has gone far away, Princess."
Pari sobbed uncontrollably.
Mouli slowly came forward.
She hugged Pari.
Mouli: "From today... I will never let you feel alone."

Pari innocently asked,
"Will you become my Mumma?"
Mouli's heart melted.
She kissed Pari's forehead.
Mouli: "Yes."
A few days later...
Kunal met Maan and Nandini one final time.
Nandini folded her hands.
Nandini: "I know you hate me."
Kunal smiled faintly.
Kunal: "No, Nandini."
She looked up in surprise.
Kunal: "At first I thought you were leaving because you stopped loving me."
He continued,
"Now I understand... you left because you wanted me to rebuild my family with Mouli. You wanted Pari to grow up with both parents instead of living between broken relationships."

Nandini broke down.
Nandini: "Forgive me."
Kunal shook his head.
"No. Thank you."
He turned toward Maan.
"Take care of her. She has suffered enough."
Maan nodded.
"I promise."
The two men shook hands.
Kunal then looked at Nandini.
"Whenever you wish to meet Pari, my doors will always remain open."
Nandini cried silently.
Fifteen Years Later...
Sheikh House...
Radhika smiled while looking at two young girls.
One was cheerful, confident and mature.
Mishty Sheikh.
The other was equally beautiful but quieter.
Pari Sheikh.
Though everyone knew Pari was Nandini's daughter, Mouli had never allowed her to feel like an outsider.
Yet...
Sometimes, unknowingly...
Mouli became stricter with Pari than with Mishty.
If Mishty made a mistake...
Mouli would smile.
If Pari made the same mistake...
Mouli would scold her.
Pari never complained.
Instead...
She silently accepted every scolding.
Mishty noticed this many times.
One morning...
Pari accidentally broke a flower vase.
Mouli became angry.
Mouli: "Pari! How many times have I told you to be careful?"

Pari lowered her head.
"Sorry, Mumma."
Just then...
Mishty came downstairs.
Mishty: "Mom... I was the one who asked Pari to bring the vase."
Mouli looked at both girls.
She realized she had again scolded Pari without listening.
Feeling guilty, she walked away.
Pari smiled sadly.
"It's okay, Didi. I'm used to it."

Mishty held her sister's hand.
"Never say that again."
She hugged Pari tightly.
"You are my sister. No one—not even destiny—can change that."
Radhika watched them from afar.
She folded her hands before God.
"Please don't let these sisters drift apart. They have already lost enough in life."
