Vaibhav has been retained in the India squad for the trip to England and could become the youngest Indian player to ever debut in international cricket, breaking the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record, if he gets a game in any of the five fixtures.

The series opens in Chester-le-Street on Wednesday before moving to Manchester and Nottingham on July 4 and 7, respectively.

Bristol and Southampton will host the final two matches of the ENG vs IND T20 2026 series, which concludes on July 11. India will also play England in a three-match ODI series after that.

The series will carry significance beyond Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s potential historic debut.

Shreyas Iyer, who was appointed as the new Indian T20 captain just before the Ireland series, will look to get his first series win under his belt after an underwhelming start to his tenure as the national team skipper.

The 31-year-old was out of India’s T20 setup for almost three years before suddenly being bestowed with the role after replacing Suryakumar Yadav, who had led India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year.

Shreyas will have pressure to deliver results against England after the slip ups against Ireland.

World No. 2 England, however, will be a very different calibre of test from Ireland, especially in their own backyard.

The hosts boast one of the strongest white-ball squads in world cricket, led by Harry Brook, and will see the series as an ideal opportunity to make a statement against the top-ranked T20I side.
