We can't ask her... so - like the last time it was mentioned - the field for suppositions is open. Have fun
Like this member just did, so did those people in the net alleging at corporate bookings with - generally - just hinting at "blockbusters" (etc.)... it's a tactic to get clicks, nothing more.
Since I got the affirmation that there hadn't been any 'foul play' from neither YRF's nor SRK's side, I'm fine. It's not the first time that Kajol says something really stupid just to say something
I don't know how it is in older single screen theatres, but in those who scan tickets, every time a digital or paper ticket is scanned at the cinema entrance, the data is synced instantly with the theater's central management system. If a specific show is marked 100% "sold out" on booking platforms, but the entrance scanners only record a 40% check-in rate by the time the movie starts, the system flags it as an anomaly.
Also, often cinemas/cinema chains make their highest profit margins on popcorn, snacks, and drinks, not just the actual tickets. If a theater sells out a 500-seat hall but food and beverage sales for that specific time slot drop to near zero, corporate auditors instantly know that the booking was artificial.
As the growing narrative of "corporate/self-booking" killed the trust into published boxoffice numbers, independent trackers and trade journalists even physically visited single screens and multiplexes across India during the opening weeks of Pathaan and found that Pathaan’s staggering numbers were genuine, concluding that any corporate booking was practically nonexistent (contrary what they found out about Salaar during the clash with Dunki).
My own attitude towards boxoffice-numbers: they would never be my primary interest when looking at the success of a movie.
Just adding (which also had been the case for Jawan and Dunki):
"The International Box Office Could Not Be Rigged"
A massive chunk of Pathaan’s ₹1,000+ crore revenue came from overseas markets, particularly North America, the UK, and the Gulf region. Independent international tracking agencies (like Comscore) strictly audit global box office chains like AMC and Cinemark. It is legally and financially impossible for a Bollywood studio to execute mass corporate ghost bookings in international theaters to fool global tracking systems. The fact that the overseas data matched the high numbers proved the film's global popularity was authentic." (AI wording)
So, dear topicmaker, go to your preferred trade analyst and look for India gross in relation to overseas gross...
my preferred (Sacnilk) gives: India Gross: ₹657.50Cr, Overseas: ₹397.50Cr (with a ww gross of 1055 cr)... that makes overseas almost 38% of the gross income... try to find prominent Hindi movies (not having released in China) with the same high proportion... (for Dunki, it was even slightly over 40%).
Essay nahi, topic pe view chahiye.
Finally watched Pathaan and I absolutely loved it. No, it's not a perfect film. The plot is gloriously over-the-top, logic often takes a...
