Also, this makes me wonder, by any chance, the same thing happens between two teams, so who will qualify if this is 4th and 5th position? & it is the last match before playoffs.
I wanna know the rule.
CSK got above due to alphabetical order but by any chance, if two teams have same points and NRR (never saw it happen except now), so who qualifies?
if 2 teams have same points and net run rate who qualified in ipl
If two teams have the same number of points and the exact same Net Run Rate (NRR), the IPL breaks the tie using the following sequential criteria:
The Times of India
Most Wins: The team with the higher number of wins throughout the league stage is placed higher.
Head-to-Head Record: If their wins are also identical, the team that won the head-to-head match(es) between the two teams during the season qualifies.
Higher Wickets per Ball: If the teams are still tied, the team with a higher number of wickets taken per fair ball bowled during the season takes the higher spot.
Drawing Lots: In the highly unlikely event that none of the above separates them, the tie is broken by drawing lots (a random draw).
