🏏IPL 2026: PBKS vs SRH, 49th Match, Hyderabad on 06/05/2026 at 7:30PM IST🏏

Two of the most aggressive batting sides in the competition. A pitch that will not ask them to slow down. And skewed boundary dimensions that will allow even mishits to carry. It is not hard to see what Wednesday night's contest between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings on the famous Pitch #2 in Uppal is shaping up to be.
SRH and PBKS have been the two quickest-scoring sides in the Powerplay in IPL 2026, with both striking above 11.5 runs an over. And neither of the two teams ease off once the field spreads, sitting third and second respectively in terms of scoring in overs 7-15 as well. Add batters like Shreyas Iyer, Heinrich Klaasen, Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis into the mix, all four among the top-six most destructive death-over hitters since 2023, and the ingredients for a run-fest are firmly in place. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori even joked on the eve of the game that he was "very concerned" for the bowlers.
PBKS remain top of the table despite back-to-back losses but their bowling has looked the shakier half of an otherwise strong campaign. Given that taking wickets will be the hard currency in Hyderabad and one good over with the ball can be the difference in the end, this could be a good time and place for their bowling attack to step up. SRH, meanwhile, will look to move on from their collapse [105/1 to 165 all out] on a slower pitch against Kolkata Knight Riders. Back on a truer batting surface that better suits their all-out approach and without the Narine-Varun spin axis to contend with, they will expect to free their arms again.
