I understand your apprehension about the trauma but sadly people in the industry are vultures. Ergo why Eklavya popped up in S1. There was no need to do so but Ekta and her creatives clearly wanted to capitalise on the popularity that Ansh had created.
If this news is true then that’s what they want to go for again. Last time around Nandini had a thin veneer to put between herself and Eklavya wherein his face was the problem she had to get past; but if they amp up the issue this time then they are definitely going for the jugular.
The news has just come out so we don’t know if it’s true or not yet, so let’s see.
I was apprehensive about the possibility of Pearl coming onboard from the moment the news came out because of his case. In any other show maybe it would have worked but you can’t cast a man who has been accused of such a grave crime in a show that has a former cabinet minister who is very much politically active and bound to contest again at some point in the future again. The optics of that wouldn’t be acceptable. I wouldn’t have still cast Aakashdeep again personally because he would never look the age he’s supposed to, so maybe they know this too.
Depending on the shade of this character the actor needs to have the chops but the issue again is that that currently we don’t have a lot of options in the younger generation on ITV if at all to portray a complex character. I don’t know any new actors who have a range.
Let’s hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.
Eklavya as a character never hit a cord with viewers. They tried to give him so much importance, initially as the only sane child in that madhouse (except Archita who no one knew ever existed), then as someone everyone feared. I mean why was Manthan required to be afraid of Eklavya? He cared about noone.
When that didnt work, they uselessly got him into Lakshya KT love story (if you watched the generation from start, it was pretty clear that Manthan was supposed to be the third angle in them, Manthan had issues with Lakshya and he and KT had huge differences), then made Eklavya as misunderstood just because of his face and finally turned him completely evil.
After marriage they tried to start post marriage love story for Eklavya KT, but that never hit a cord, so that was excused, next they tried to bring in sibling bond between Bhoomi and Eklavya, even that was hardly accepted as Bhoomi Manthan had already hit a connect with them so Eku seemed a third wheel even in this sibling bond.
When nothing worked they got Akashdeep in some other show (KIT) and ignored Eku..
In fact even the character of Shradha and Eklavya was definitely an afterthought, because Ansh always mentioned he was evil gangster since start
But still at that time getting back the biggest villain on ITV back as positive was still a good bet, maybe it backfired, but ok, ab to having 50+ year old playing 25 year old will seem so strange, and Ansh is no longer that much of craze either
