YHM was good and even shagun's story was relevant up to a pt but later they ruined the entire story by accommodating some sensless tracks...however you can watch and draw the conclusion though..and I agree with your pt on budget...Kyunki right now has an ensemble cast and I think all are getting paid a hefty amt so bringing in AH for same show may now work for EK ...but truth is EK is EK if she decides on something she will do it by hook or crook

Ekta changed this male lead having kids with different women trope from pavitra rishta I think. That show was the starting point along with tere liye. The couple be separated, emotionally confused or on verge of marrying different people but male leads or even female leads never had kids with other people . Bhagya series ,BALH and star plus shows from 2010 onwards like IPKKND , EHMMBH , Ishqbaaz all followed this trend. Even some of the new shows where male leads were emotionally confused and made female leads doormat like ghum ,Imlie never had them producing kid with other women.

It was torture and last straw was when shagun was made surrogate mother

I feel shagun was very much relevant to YHM atleast until that fire accident her tracks made sense though tracks where Bhallas Iyers danced in Shagun Ashok's Sangeet was OTT but her tracks made sense until Adi started despising her and she moved away for good...Her track should have ended there but naa EK had weird ideas EK made Shagun birth Ishra's baby...she turned Shagun into Ishra's In Law...and maiyya made Shagun MIL of her own son what a mess

Abhi never had kids with tanu or even karan of kundali bhagya with any other women other than Preeta but yes I agree they were kind of cheating at some point.

Jhanak S1 seems like exception because of how disgusting Leena thought process is. She is one of the pathetic ladies but nowadays other producers don't show this trope unless they have favoritism or personal tiff with main leads.
