I am sure if pedo Saher or the zee one were airing now when I was a teenager, I probably would’ve been defending them too and would’ve thought it was fine and normal since at that time I was kinda into older men. Yep. So I don’t blame the teens. I blame the makers who are into such filth who are trying to normalise these ideas for kids.

Their problem isn’t even showing such things IMO but romanticising them and glamorising them. If shows took the other route it would at least make sense since to show the evils of the world you have to present them as they are which in this is what it is.

Take Balika Vadhu for example, ironically on the same channel and their breakout show. We saw barely 8 - 10 years old getting married and they didn’t shy away from what a toll it took on their lives not just as adults but as kids too. They in fact made it a point to highlight the adverse effects of a marriage where two partners aren’t quite mature enough to understand what sort of a commitment they’re accepting towards each other and what it encompasses. Moreover, they showed Anandi wasn’t allowed to study beyond basic primary education despite being exceptionally bright but Jagdish was. He ends up becoming a doctor and then he suddenly finds himself as being saddled with someone not worth being called his wife.

They explored how Jagdish had started getting attracted to Anandi as a teen when he tried to spy on her changing clothes and issues like even teen pregnancy with her SIL.

If you want to show the evils of the society, go ahead; but then don’t glamorise them.

Had they went for the same angle but shown what a toll it took on this girl Saher until she finally found her voice and escaped the hell she was forced into, the premise wouldn’t have been so terrible though disturbing and disgusting nonetheless even then. But it would’ve been an inspiration rather than brainwashing for girls like her and her age. That’s the problem with such shows.

And I don’t understand this saying that they only have few years of age difference when the problem remains the same - the girl is still a minor/child and the ml is an adult. Or saying the ml doesn’t know her age when that makes it worse as that means the makers is using that to make ml look innocent and justify why he’s getting attracted to her. Now I saw a new promo of this show, and they are showing the fl is having feelings for him. Full on grooming and pedophilia glorification. I heard the OG version of this was banned in Turkey 3 times, but the saher makers still decided to take this show and make it for itv audience. Glad its trps are down. May its ratings continue to decrease and the show gets cancelled asap.

Didn’t know Saher was inspired by some Turkish show but it suddenly makes a lot of sense. There was another Turkish remake with Aditi Sharma, a few years ago and while I love her as an actress, I couldn’t watch it because the show basically was about her falling in love with her boss. Not an issue, but the premise then gets murky. She is a widow who works as an architect at a firm and is a single mom. Her son is diagnosed with cancer and the treatment is expensive. She asks for a loan from her boss and is willing to have it deducted from her salary. She even quotes the amount as a very specific number. He agrees but says she must sleep with him.

She agrees despite being revolted by the proposal as nothing matters more to her but her son’s life. Not even her dignity and self respect. The guy finds out via his mom and her best friend somehow that he essentially blackmailed a desperate widow trying to save her child into sleeping with him and he apologises. He says he was raised by a single mom too who was a widow and if he’d known her circumstances in the entirety earlier he wouldn’t have even accepted to get paid back but helped her out as it is.

They get married in the end.

BV is an exception. Even when they showed uncomfortable things they never glamorised them. They made sure we as audience felt uncomfortable with the fact that such a thing was happening and was considered normal. They made us see child widows, teens who had to go through puberty, marital rape and things like a man old enough to be a father marrying a girl who could have been his child but never made them glamorous.

There was not any major clashes , but the equation between ekta and hiten-gauri wasn't same as before . After 10 years when ekta finally cast them in kyunki 2 last year , hiten-gauri started attending ekta's parties and events again. Ekta even mentioned them as her all time fav couple in her insta story.
