As someone who suffered through a Lauren Asher series, I'm gonna take your word on Ana Huang. I've been tempted to try reading one of her books before, but I keep thinking about how even though Dreamland Billionaires was torture to get through, I finished cuz I was stubborn, and I don't want to do that with Ana Huang's books. (Also, one of the main reasons why I don't want to read Elle Kennedy's stuff, but in my defence, I have read one of her books before.)

For me, EK is better than Ana Huang.
The quality has come down, I agree, because I read and liked Off-Campus series and her series with Sarina Bowen much more than some of her recent books.

Ahh, I think I must have read at least 250 smiley36 I’ll have to total up my logs, but definitely more than 200 books—thanks to BTRC (thanks, Lizzie!!!!). In fact, tbh, 2025 has been my best year as a reader since I finished college.

It’s quite difficult to pinpoint a single favorite, but I loved quite a few books and really liked many others. Off the top of my head: Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young,

Overhyped in general? Twilight and FSG. I dislike both with a passion—romance ke naam pe kalank hai woh smiley26

Hey, Vera. Hope things are great on your sidesmiley27

Wow, 200+ books is amazing and congrats on your graduation! <3 <3

@bold I have noticed that Out on a Limb book has been circulating a lot here during BTRC. Is it that good? I am not really into romance books, but coming to know that it's based on a one night stand doesn't sit right with me *runs*

@red- I actually watched the 1st twilight movie and I don't get the hype, honestly. All of those years and I thought it's was a TV showsmiley36

  1. How many books in total did you read in 2025?
  2. Best book/FF you have read in 2025, and why?
  3. What book/FF you felt it was the most overhyped?
  4. What book(s) you're looking forward to read this year?

Hi Leenaaa,

I read approximately around 200 works - a lot of which were unlisted on the forum. The official records is around 150 works. I am happy with my reading pace.

The best is hard to pick because after a point you start enjoying different works because of how to they are written. There is a fanfic on ao3 titled beauty is in the eye of the beholder that would certainly feature on my favourite list along with warrior beauty because of the way both stories are written.

I felt that the Chinese novel Love Like the Galaxy was bit overhyped. I had little patience of the novel although I have found the drama somewhat better.

I never work with a specific list, I prefer going with the flow. Sometimes, I read recs by different people, but often, I just find books on my own. There are some fanfics perhaps now deleted that I wish to return to and reread if possible. But that seems like an unfulfilled dream.

Ohh dreamland series was a nightmare, I never finished it. It bored me to hell! smiley36

One of the most overhyped books that I actually liked and deserved to be overhyped was cat and Ouse duet by H.D.carlton( hunting and haunting Adeline ). That author delivered a dark romance. I was actually not expecting any event that happened in book2. It kept me interested to keep reading.

Was it the Him series? I read it a couple years ago and really didn't like it, I think it's actually what turned me off both of them as writers.

The more I think about it, the more I think I was WAY too nice with my ratings for the first two books. smiley37

I read 12 books last year. It's not much, but I am happy with it <3

. We'll this is interesting! I read around 120-140 books in 2025 (including Wattpad)

Best book would be Huntress Moon Series by Alexandra Sokoloff and The King's Oath by Bhavini K Desai

Overhyped books for me which I read in 2025 would be Throne Duet by Rina Kent. (Almost all books by Rina Kent lol)

I'm looking forward to 4th book of Fourth Wing series (if it releases this year) and A fortress of windows by Bhavini K Desai

Ahh, I think I must have read at least 250 smiley36 I’ll have to total up my logs, but definitely more than 200 books—thanks to BTRC (thanks, Lizzie!!!!). In fact, tbh, 2025 has been my best year as a reader since I finished college.

2026 is a blip compared to 2025. smiley19

It’s quite difficult to pinpoint a single favorite, but I loved quite a few books and really liked many others. Off the top of my head: Maybe One Day by Catherine Bybee, Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, How to Walk Away by Katherine Center, A Lady for a Duke, Evvie Drake Starts Over, and of course PS (Kalki).

FF-wise—an IF fanfiction of YHM, and some YKS (PK show) fics on Wattpad. I also loved a different take on Maxton Hall.

Overhyped in general? Twilight and FSG. I dislike both with a passion—romance ke naam pe kalank hai woh smiley26

In 2025, imo, Lauren Asher’s books were overhyped. Also Ana Huang— bookstagram makes her look like she's author extraordinaire, but personally? I can pick up any erotica if I all wanted was a book heavy with smut, and repetitive trope-y story that can be summarised in 2 lines.

I’m a “take them as they come” kind of reader 😄 but I’m really looking forward to Katherine Center’s new book—and, after quite a while, one from Lisa Kleypas (releasing in October).

250 books is a hell lot. I agree with your take on Ana Huang, literally Wattpad story lagti hai (no offence to Wattpad stories though). It's like there is no effort put into those. I see you like HR, have you read Prizefighter series by Alice Coldbreath and Paradise by Judith McNaught?
