You know I have fallen behind on my reading smiley13 - not happy about it. But mostly been reading Indie books. Discovered this Canadian author called Megan McSpadden. And another indie author - Amber West. We’re reading one of her books for my book club this month. Also read a couple of Katherine Center’s books - I always enjoy her. DNFed Happy Place by Emily Henry (maybe wrong timing? But idk she’s always been hit or miss for me). And now back to you by B.K. Borison was cute. In her own league - Liz Tomforde’s latest was okay

Currently reading Please don’t go by E. Salvador. I have heard good things about it. Also started The Raven Scholar. But it’s slow going these days what with life getting in the way and also my binge watches smiley36

What about you? How have you been and what have you been reading?

Hello Fellow Readers!
I'm in dire need of book recs! My favourite genres are Fantasy, Romance, Thriller / Mystery, and Horror!

And if it is fantasy (Not Romantasy), I definitely prefer adult fantasy to YA, and I prefer clean romance recs, nothing smutty!

Hi, LM, here’s a curated list across your tastes ----

Fantasy --- adult, minimal/clean romance,

1. The Lies of Locke Lamora----It is an adult fantasy + heist + clever twists. Romance is very light and clear. Perfect if you like smart plots + witty characters.

2. City of Stairs.... Fantasy + murder mystery + political intrigue, Gods, dead civilizations, and investigations!

3. Witchmark .... Gaslamp fantasy + murder mystery, subtle romance, not explicit, strong worldbuilding with an investigation plot

4. The Curse of Chalion.... Mature protagonist (rare in fantasy!)political + divine intrigue, Gentle, clean romance.

If you want mystery/ thriller, clean romance, then---

5. The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.... Murder mystery + time loop twist, very clever, zero smut, widely recommended for gothic mystery vibes!!!

6. In a Dark, Dark Wood--- Psychological thriller, isolated setting + unreliable memory, classic “what really happened?” tension.

I'm good. It's kinda hectic these days so I have fallen way way down the wagon. Only difference is I'm not watching much either.

@bold: same here smiley19 kahaan I was reading 30-40 books during BTRC.

I love Katherine Centre's books too. Read a couple of thrillers. The Iresistible urge to fall for your enemy by Brigitte Knightley was okay. I read it as a part of buddy reads.

Idk, somehow Love Song's blurb didn't pull me in, so haven't given it a read yet. Back to you by B.K Borison & Mistakes were made by Catherine Cowles are in my TBR, will be reading it this month. Looking forward to Abby's book on March 31st. 🤭

It's great to exchange recs after what feels like ages. smiley36

@bold: Jane kahan gaye woh din? smiley19 they ain’t ever coming back.(at least doesn’t look like it for me)

Love song - I’m hearing such mixed reviews. Idk if I will read it or not. I haven’t read any thrillers at all lately. I have borrowed One by One by Ruth Ware, lets see if I get down to actually reading it before I have to return it (oh the number of books I’ve borrowed and just returned without reading! They need to be in a separate list smiley36)

Yeah it’s been ages hasn’t it? Tbh I haven’t been visiting IF much and haven’t had any reason to, your tag brought me here after a looooong time! Take care, Vera! smiley31

BTRC prodded me to read more than I usually would. Without an incentive, I feel lazy to search only. smiley36

Yeah that’s why I have kept Love Song on hold. If you happen to read, do share reviews!

@bold: oh so do I. smiley37 I can’t seem to help myself picking them up, but ultimately return them read halfway or not at all smiley36

@violet : forum itself has gone silent. I missed stalking threads, everyone’s TBR, having fun. You too, Lizzie! It was great catching up with you! smiley31

Update:

Finished reading it. And I must say it was more fast paced than the things I have read. The heroine being a straightforward person kept me hooked!

Thanks for sharing the rec!

Do recommend some more.

Hi! I'm doing good, how are you?

My reading's been super random. I'm re-reading all the Puckboys books by Saxon James and Eden Finley because the final book comes out this year, aka, I'm probably never getting around to Heated Rivalry.

I randomly picked up an audiobook by Andi Jaxon (it was called Hidden Scars) because I have some of their books on my to-read shelf, but not the one I ended up reading. I thought it would be a less lighthearted sort of M/M hockey romance, but it was genuinely so depressing and in a way where I couldn't ever cry over what the characters were going through. Needless to say, all of their books are off my to-read shelf.

I'm also continuing with Zodiac Academy. I listened to Cursed Fates, and it's my favourite book so far. I think I finally like one of the main couples, lols. I know I always say this, but if you want like a really well-produced audiobook, the GraphicAudio versions of Zodiac Academy are an excellent place to start.

Also, I'm trying to branch out with mysteries and thrillers! I'm starting with Holly Jackson because I read AGGGTM like two years ago, but never really got around to picking up her other books. I've read both Not Quite Dead Yet and The Reappearance of Rachel Price. I enjoyed them both for different reasons, so all I'll say without giving away any spoilers is that I rated them both 3.75 stars.

I'm currently reading The Battle of the Labyrinth, which is the fourth Percy Jackson book. It's taking a lot longer than I would like, just because I don't get the time to sit down and read physical books. It's actually why I've been doing so many audiobooks this year.
