I’ll say this - despite the episode being well… meh in terms of quality of writing and execution overall there was one thing that I did like about it which just occurred to me.

No, not that it ended - but how though the focus was on parent child relationships and how both sides were calling each other out for their actions and behaviours - past and present - so long as it stayed within the boundaries of this equation - parent and child - no matter who was accusing whom Samaira accusing her parents or Karan accusing his - the volume of the conversations were normal and respectful. There was no unnecessary screaming or shouting from either ends nor any threats of violence in the form of slaps, kicks like the whole family of the most absurd meme worthy show does which precedes Kyunki be it before or after every Naya Safar which makes the poor eardrums of audience suffer regardless of place, time or characters.

The only loud argument was between the two brothers and even there Gautam was the one who was the loudest. You understand his point but yeah, dude was loud so…

I also noticed how Damini didn’t immediately jump on the gun and take offence too when Gautam told her about KN sitting for the Pooja. Rather she was very calm, practical and politely told Gautam they had arrived at the last minute and so the whole thing was not an act meant to insult them as the eldest of the family but a circumstantial decision since KN were already at SN beforehand.

Gautam knows this too somewhere but his own anger and resentment isn’t allowing him to accept the facts calmly. He says he loses arguments in his own family - it’s likely because he’s too close to the matter and therefore his judgement is affected by the same. Were he a bit calmer he could have seen this and frankly has the time to lord his supremacy for eternity amongst all the siblings by proclaiming he exposed Noina and got rid of her in a way.

Their argument honestly reminds me of a show though - a beautiful show called This is Us which aired for 6 seasons and is one of the most amazing family based shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching. It is not an easy watch though as the main family deals with a lot of things and sometimes the emotions hit close to home which are so real and raw that you end up bawling right along the characters onscreen, not just because you feel sorry for them but because you can identify yourself with them.

The show essentially deals with a family called The Pearsons and Gautam’s accusations of Tulsi and Mihir loving Karan more are very in line with those of Kevin, the oldest son of the protagonists Rebecca and Jack. He feels overshadowed and unloved when compared to his adopted brother Randall and the resentment grows particularly after a very tragic incident.

The family goes for a therapy to talk it out and Kevin lays bare his accusations. What Tulsi said yesterday was exactly the thing that ironically Rebecca does in the therapy. She says she loves all her kids equally but the reason why she seems particularly fond of Randall and relies on him, talks with him more is because he’s easier. He’s more understanding, he is there when he’s needed no questions asked. Even if he has to give you a piece of his mind he will always solve the problem first then give you an earful.

I wish Kyunki had the sort of writers who could write something phenomenal like this. Because in a way that’s the exact parallel and situation here.

Gautam is the eldest but he’s made it very hard to love him though that’s no fault of his own. He was kidnapped and wrecked by Aarti and Kiran’s terrible parenting. But the fact remains, Karan has had a terrible childhood too. A mother pretending to have lost her mental balance in a way, a father who refuses to own him; two sets of families and yet no one knows of his existence and he’s forced to grow up a lot sooner than a child should. Then throw in the shame of his birth being illegitimate that comes as a huge roadblock whenever he wants to connect with another person in his life - Damini’s parents and Nandini’s family rejected him as a prospective groom despite his ability to earn well, good looks, no vices or criminal history of any sort all based on his birth.

Tulsi got a year or so with Gautam as a child when he’s too young to remember; she had none with Karan. She essentially got them both as adults as a mother… but Gautam made her earn that love and respect, which was his right to do so… Karan never made her jump through those hoops which again fits the situation. But… and this is the dealbreaker, Karan stood by Tulsi no matter what, the same cannot be said for Gautam.

Yesterday was the first time that Karan ever even raised a question and complained to Tulsi and Mihir as a child who felt abandoned and hurt by the way his parents had treated him in the last six years. He swallowed it all up and never complained when he got to SN or went to meet Tulsi at the chawl. It was only when he was pushed to the brink by the circumstances wherein he was being called out as a father by his own parents, his wife was arguing with him even now, he had nearly watched his daughter kill herself and would have lost her had it not been for his brother who was close enough to help and save his daughter. He allowed himself to unleash what he held back for the first time.

Gautam erupts at every chance he gets and is prickly like a thorn, not saying it’s his fault; but yeah… you do understand why Karan ends up becoming the favourite.

Yes, parents are supposed to be there for their kids no matter what - yesterday even Mihir and Tulsi found that out that regardless of how old they are their kids still need them. Not for getting them things, they can earn for them and buy them on their own - but to get them, guide them and just be there for them.

Karan is likely the most successful of their children and yesterday he mentioned how his dad never picked up his calls or called him once. Tulsi did the same. Mihir was perhaps wallowing in his self pity, anger, hatred and shame remembering how Karan had called him out. He likely never realised it or even if he did, he didn’t broach the subject with Parth about how he was in SN when his parents were miffed at Mihir. He didn’t seem to have had any arguments with them to have stormed off and then landed right at his grandfather’s doorstep.

It’s very likely that Karan deployed Parth to go to SN and help him coordinate the search for Tulsi as well as find out what was going on with Mihir and at SN. Whether they had any luck regarding the search, if anyone was even looking for Tulsi.

Karan said that he called Tulsi a lot but she never picked up his calls, ironically, we have had Tulsi telling Gautam that though she stayed away from everybody she tried calling him but he never picked up her calls.

Gautam feels like he’s been given the shorter stick, while per Tulsi’s own admission, he’s likely the only child she actively tried to stay in touch with post her leaving SN too. The ones looking for her were ignored and never got a call back nor had their calls answered. The one who didn’t answer, never called, was ignoring her was the one she was trying to connect with amongst all her children.

To me, this is irony at its best. Gautam feels ignored when compared to the other half a dozen kids running around his parents and is particularly vulnerable when it comes to Karan as he feels his mother definitely owes him no love, respect nor any affection but she freely grants it to him the most. No one would ever have blamed Tulsi for being a stepmom to Karan given the way he’s not a son she chose to mother when she married his dad, but is the very symbol of Mihir’s infidelity post their marriage and two kids.

If this gets out that Tulsi ignored her half a dozen kids while she was trying to contact Gautam it would be absolutely wild and crazily hilarious if they all are mad at her collectively for being partial towards Gautam.

If you read psychology every family has a golden child who feels highly entitled

usually the elder son or raja beta of indian family are entitled ones

than there is scapegoat kids - karan virani is scape goat kid of virani family

than there is highly narcissist and psychopath kids like ansh who blackmail mom dad to harm other sibling(i want nandini only i should marry her karan should not types)

he has to do all sacrifices to prove himself as worthy of virani love

including tulsi - she made him give up nandini and marry ansh as ansh wanted nandini she hated him till ansh removed hand on tulsi abroad and karan stopped him

So in every step karan has to prove his loyalty to mom, dad, brothers, grandparents etc

and every blame goes on him only

gautam thinks parents do not love him blame karan

ansh wants to posses nandini force karan to give up his love

damini again same, gautam tricked him out of wedding day venue

so karan is kind of a scape goat most of his life

even mandira took advantage of karan virani she was a narcissit mom *(read psychology)

she stole parth from karan after birth

so every sacrifice karan does but hes always shouted at by all treated by siblings parents grandparents with suspicion like enemy

mihir fail to acknowledge karan till tulsi bring him home accept him

any other individual who suffered as much as karan in real life would have had depression, anxiety, BP, diabetics and what not because this is too much of a abuse on him by viranis just because hes illegitimate

In real life can you imagine if a human has to undergo so much pain, humilation not only by family but society how much pressure they may have in mind in life they will break away

If someone fails in 10th 12th neet they commit suicide

Karan has faced humilation multiplied by 10k times by virani family over the years than any neet failure yet hes still sane and normal - that shows how strong minded he is

Usually they say God gives terrible pain and problems to only strong people who can bear it and karan is that strong person

Hi, replying to your previous messages here since that EDT is closed now.

Post 1 - yep, Karan was introduced to his 3 cousins quite late but once he was there and the tensions between Kesar and Anupam flared up courtesy of Raj and later Harsh, he was there for them. I remember the youngest one, Aparna iirc, would hug him and cry. Karan was unaware of what had hit the marriage of his Mama and Mami but without being disrespectful he raised the issues his cousins were facing owing to their parents.

Parth and Samaira have not had a single scene as far as I know. We don’t even know what their equation is like. It’s quite possible that Samaira feels abandoned by him as well since he was in SN and we haven’t had a single scene where he was talking to her or mentioned he was on a call with her to say another family member. The issue here is that characters lack depth and that previous season’s one on one rapport that changed with every pair.

Like for example Gautam absolutely loathed Saahil thinking that his parents adore him once he was in SN. The hate then transferred to Karan. He had no issues with Harsh and eventually his relationship with Shobha also got better. Saahil and Karan had their rocky moments depending on the timeline we are talking about but they were close particularly when younger. There was an ease between them that was genuine, warm and sincere. They could have their moments of differences but that wasn’t enough to ruin their relationship/friendship permanently because they had a genuine bond with each other regardless of their blood ties. Saahil didn’t even know for a long time Karan was his cousin so we can’t even say that it’s simply blood that drew them to each other always. Karan knew and saw how Saahil was a good person who treated him well and was there as a friend for him and so reciprocated in the same manner.

Gautam couldn’t exactly become a friend of sorts to any of his siblings or his cousins let alone Karan. I think the closest he came to it was with Ansh but it was based on their mutual hate and dislike of Karan more than anything else. The fact that Ansh was his brother, born to Tulsi and not another woman helped Gautam like him better and quicker. Ansh knowing which buttons to press made the job look smooth and natural.

Ironically the closest they’ve came to this is with Parth and Dev in this season and well.. they hold no candle to their dads truth be told. I would rather watch Karan Saahil than them. At least one wasn’t a slacker while the other just rolled his eyes.

They’re aping the Jai Veeru type of thing here with Parth and Dev but really the actors and the writers just don’t have it in them to pull it off. Since, we saw while Jai was the quieter one, he knew what buttons to press from time to time to keep the drama going and Veeru had no clue how his friend was taking the Mickey out of him time and again. We don’t love their chemistry because they are simply played by two stalwarts but as their friendship felt real. Jai was the perfect personification of - it’s always the quiet ones. That pranking of Jai that got Veeru into trouble inevitably not only helped give us some funny scenes we can still enjoy as we watch them today but also made them seem like real friends. Jai would take a bullet for him, we know that; but he also wouldn’t hesitate to set him up to get embarrassed in front of Basanti and her Mausi. That’s why we love them because we know true friends can be trusted to make sure you get egg on your face like that. They’ll be there to help you wipe it off later too, but make sure you don’t miss the egg’s trajectory when it’s on its way to hit you in the face as well before that.

Parth and Dev have no such warmth, no such moments of fun and jokes. So they seem to lack.

Sigh, I thought Ekta’s K era was the downfall of TV… who knew that one day I would compare the previous seasons of her own shows be it KZK or Kyunki with their latest ones and find the new ones lacking even worse in every single department making me think the older ones are a treasure in comparison at least in terms of making me feel invested in the characters for as long as I could and did when I watched those shows.

Now I am watching for nostalgia sake but I am not invested in a single character tbh.
