I love Dhoni but he didn’t contribute in runs like Virat did. But then nobody did as much as VK as a player. There are probably very few records he didn’t break as a batsman. He is chase master for a reason.

Mahi did take the team across the line in some clutch situations with his batting. But as a captain he’s been invaluable.

IMO, Sky and Gill got chosen based on their popularity and batting skills.

Mahi > Rohit > Virat would be my ranking.

Usually the batsman who play in the openers or 2nd, 3rd slots only make records for highest run getter etc. The ones who come as a finisher or 4, 5 positions don't have as many runs as the others. Only Laxman is an exception as he played many tests.

Dhoni mostly came in 4th or 5th position. He gave the opener slot to Rohit, Gambir etc. still Dhoni made 10,000 runs n ODI.

This actually makes sense. Maybe he’s a good captain ? I’m not sure because we don’t know if was a whim on that moment or a carefully calculated move.

He could have gone with Axar who had one over left but instead went with Dube who did his job well, at least for the first 4 crucial deliveries. Uske baad whatever happened holds no consequence on the outcome of the match, even if might individually.

253 was worth its weight in gold. If the target was less, say 20 runs, bringing Dube would have been proved ineffectual. Batsmen saved the day, period.
